If you need to get out of the City, Portland, commune with nature, see some awe inspiring scenery, then this is the place to go. Took us about 20 minutes from downtown Portland to get there and it was well worth the side trip. The Osprey nests were incredible, view of Mount St, Helen was breathtaking and the beaches were great. Want to go again and bring a bike.
$7.00 permit required for wildlife areas can be purchased at local store.

A very nice place to spend the afternoon near the autum holidays. Very friendly, and lots of fun with families.

I've only ever ridden my bike here but it was a great ride. Some of the locals can act like a-holes if you take up too much of the rode, so be cautious. That aside, the landscape is beautiful and the ride is quite flat. I've heard there are fruit picking events during the summer.

I kayak a lot on Sauvie Island--lots of wonderful large lakes, Mulnomah Channel and the Colombia river--not to mention incredible wildlife, hikes, farm stands with you-pick berries and peace and quiet.

Come on gang! Where can you ride your bike, stop and pick fresh berries on the roadside? Sauvie's of course! Grab your Schwinn, toss the kids off at the in-laws, and enjoy a great day biking around the island, and checking out the scenery. Then again, if you ride to the very end of the road......Well, us locals know what lies there! ;)
