Beautifully designed and executed. It is lovely combined with a walk through the Hoyt Arboretum. Every time I go, and it is at least 2 times a year, I read the walls which give an accurate and caring account of the Vietnam War as it correlated with Portland..

This is the most impressive Vietnam memorial I’ve visited. It is located in Washington Park and can be reached from the city by public transportation. It’s free. The memorial is a spiral that radiates outward from a central monument. On the outward edge of the spiral are the names of of soldiers who died or are missing in action arrayed by year of their death. Along the way at the top of the names is a description of what was going on in the towns and cities of Oregon. I found the juxtaposition of the events in the small towns with the names of those who sacrificed their lives for our freedom to be compelling and uniquely Oregonian American.

The couple that my wife and I were visiting with in Portland took us to the Vietnam Veterans Living Memorial. It is a moving experience to see the names of those who died each year and to see the local history that took place that year. It is a beautiful park area.

You can't help but be moved by this. This particular part of Washington park/Zoo/Arboretum is lovely. This memorial is well done and worth an hour to visit.

This is a beautiful walk around a well groomed area up to the Vietnam Memorial wall. In the same parking lot as the Oregon Zoo and the World Forestry Center, you can walk from one to the other while in the area. Gorgeous in the spring and summer when all is in bloom.
