You can choose your path to take you from the zoo to the Rose Garden, Japanese Garden, Pittock Mansion or follow the Wildwood trail for 30+ miles. It's a great place to walk your dog of meditate among 100's of species of trees and flowers.

Forrest park with its numerous hiking trails (80 miles of them) and its proximity to Portland is truly a jewel of nature in Portland area. It is a great place for a nice and quiet walk, or hike, or run or mountain bike ride. It's long (over 12 miles one way) so don't go deep into it unless you know way out of it. Usually, there is always someone in the park no matter what day of the year it is. But I'd urge you not to go there after dark since there are no lights thee. No restrooms or running water either. However, as an outdoors heaved in major city it is probably one of the best in the world.

Is a beautiful and huge forest to hike all day. Very neat so feels less wild but can be a good thing I guess as also feels safe alone and when not such an experienced outdoor person. I loved it and spent hours up there. Stunning inside and when at top view points over Portland. The air up there is incredible too.

Forest park is the largest inner-city park in the U. S., (30 miles long).. Yet it seems little known except to the locals.
Forest park is a magical park full of urban legions and magical views. One could easily get lost and enjoy an entire day there, (over night camping not allowed).

Before visiting the park, study the trail system online and figure out how to get to that trail. This park has tens of miles of trails, and we spent an hour just hiking a trail we came upon without knowing where we were going. If you are a runner or hiker, the miles of trails here will trick you into thinking you are in heaven.

All we saw was deep, beautiful forest and did not come upon any vista points.
