“Portland's Pathetic Chinatown”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 21, 2014

This must have been a nice neighborhood before it went downhill. There are very few Chinese here now. Mostly what you see are people living in plastic bags and panhandling for quarters. Don’t worry though. They hardly have energy for that. Mostly they just stand around yelling at each other, completely oblivious of the few pedestrians passing by who actually have a few quarters in their pockets.

If you want to get out of the rain, you’ll find an abundance of sleazy strip joints that would probably welcome you, or not. Probably not. The whole neighborhood reeks of indifference.

This must have been a nice neighborhood once upon a time, and a great source of culture and revenue for Portland. I feel badly for the enterprising Americans who had to abandon it. I wonder about the city leadership that allowed this to happen.

It's creepy. Everything about it

Keep moving folks. There’s nothing to see here.

“Just a picture stop”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 12, 2014 via mobile

Nice gate, but it's not much different that gates I've seen all over the country. Nice place for a photo op, if you frame your shot right. Homeless camp on one side of the gate and a street of mostly empty store fronts behind it.

“If you've seen the photo, you've seen the gate.”

We strolled by as we strolled through the district. There it was. Not much to say. But I could be less impressed because I've seen the gate in San Francisco's Chinatown. Which may or may not be any better than this one.

“Don't bother”

There isn't much in downtown China town. There are so many other places to go in Portland that are hundred times better.

“Nothing Special in Portland's China Town”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 30, 2013

I specially went to the area to check out there China town, but did not find much. The gate is ok, but there are not many shops, or restaurants around. the area is sketchy and mostly empty. Some places are accupied with homeless people.
