This is a little seafood restaurant located in a neighborhood a few blocks off SW Macadam in the South Waterfront area of Portland, OR. The fried oysters are fabulous. Some of the tastiest oysters I have ever had. The soups are also very very good . They taste like they are homemade. The only odd thing about this restaurant is that there is lots of Green Bay Packers stuff hanging all over the place. It does seem odd in Portland, Oregon. :-)

The Corbett fish House (and its sister, Hawthorne Fish House) is a great place to eat out for someone who is celiac or gluten intolerant! You can dine at these two fine restaurants without worrying about cross contamination from other foods. And, their food is very, very good. I ordered the cod fish and chips and the cod was simply dusted with rice flour and deep fried;however, it was seemingly grease free. There was no taste of any type of oil from the fryer and the fish was crisp and firm without any degree of the bulky, breaded, mushy kind of finish so often found in fryer prepared battered fish. The fries are good, not great, but ordinary.
This is a busy place and the best service comes early in the evening. Our server as friendly and efficient. We will make these two restaurants regulars on our list of places to eat.

Loved that this place was in the middle of a neighborhood. It was about a 20-30 minute wait at 6pm on a Friday night. Finally got a table near the bar. Service was ok. Ordered fish and chips. Lightly breaded fish nuggets, large enough to really taste the fish. Ii was so good. Everyone in our group was happy with the food.
I did however order a cocktail that the bartender didn't know how to make, I told him what was in it and he made it. It was good, not great, but good.
We will make it a plan to stop by again when we are in Portland.

We arrived on a Saturday at around 5:45 and place was very full. There was a line outside by the time we left. All items on the menu are gluten free which is heavenly for anyone who can't tolerate gluten. No worries about cross contamination is a big deal in my world. The rest of my family eats gluten and they enjoyed it as much as I did. We had the regular fish and chips and the beer battered fish. We found the beer battered fish was a little crispier although neither were heavily battered or greasy. We enjoyed the Coconut Torte which tasted a lot like a Samoa Girl Scout Cookie as well as the chocolate peanut butter loaf. We will definitely be back. Good food for a reasonable price.

The appetizers were all delicate and flavorful. The blackened salmon was perfectly prepared and presented on an exquisite Caesar salad with crunchy little croutons and perfectly dressed. The brown rice flour breeding and fresh oil for frying may be key elements, but the fish and seafood is also the finest I have tasted on the entire West Coast. What a treat to find such a great restaurant tucked in a quiet neighborhood!
