We always make a point to eat here at least once during our visits to Portland. The food is always impeccably delicious and the wait staff is excellent. We had two picky teenagers with us that had no problem finding things that they liked. The breakfast choices are delicious-biscuits amazing- and the lunch menu is equally as varied. Wouldn't think of visiting Portland without a trip to Mother's.

The food here is really very good...no complaints in that category, but the idea of taking a visiting business partner out for a "Portlandia type " breakfast? Big mistake... I understand that they are busy in the mornings...(which is why we made a reservation a week in advance...)
But they refused to seat us until our entire party was present. REALLY??? Three out of four of us are standing in a tiny, crowded hallway, trying not to spill our $3.25 Cappuccinos on other patrons
and we can't go to our table and wait for our fourth? We finally had to promise to order for the chair, just in case he didn't show...AAAAWWKWAAARD.
The owner must be one mother of a Mother...her policies about reservations and seating sucks eggs.

We took a chance on a late Saturday morning brunch with no reservation during a recent Portland stay. The wait was going to be 20 minutes, so we took a seat outside the restaurant to enjoy the warm weather and ordered cocktails to sip. Hubby got a fantastic Bloody Mary and I opted for a "Grimosa" (freshly squeezed pink grapefruit juice and champagne). We definitely got start off right. The food is simply amazing here. The pork pot stickers were the best I've had anywhere, pancakes are amazing, and hubby's $15,000 Dunganess Crab cakes were to die for. The star of the visit was the dessert. House-made fresh peach shortcake. The shortcake was actually like a scone or a sweetened biscuit. Peaches were divine and cooked perfectly. I requested fresh Oregon blueberries be added to it and that took it from "Heaven" to sheer "Nirvana"! Highly recommend this place if you're ever in Portland.

Such a great breakfast place. I had the Migas, husband had the stuffed frittata. Our sons pancakes were awesome amazing. Call ahead and do a reservation because it's a very busy, we lucked out and had no crowd but was swarmed when we left. A Portland must try.

Came here for lunch. Enjoyed the beer and root beer. Shared 3 small plates (fried ravioli, pull pork slider and chicken quesadilla) and a curry chicken salad. Mentioned to the server that three of the ravioli pieces were very salty, the manager came over offered to take the price off. Good service. We like it enough and would come back again.
