“Great Happy Hour, Great Views”
Reviewed October 10, 2012

While shopping in the Alphabet District of Portland, one of the local clerks recommended that we try the Portland City Grill. It was located down the street from the Brewers Festival, so we thought we'd stop by for happy hour.

Located on the 30th floor in one of the highest buildings in Portland, they have views of Portland in all directions. The inside itself was clean and looked to be recently renovated. There is a separate dining and bar/lounge area. We got there early just before happy hour and got a spot right by the window facing the river.

We settled for some beers and appetizers. We had the Garlic Fries and the Spicy Basil Chicken. Both were excellent. Given the location and ambiance, the prices were very reasonable.

By the time we left, the place was packed, so definitely get here early for a good seat.

Great view- attentive service- food was good but pricey- might try lunch or happy hour rather than dinner next time. View was wonderful.

It is hard to decide what to like best about this restaurant; the view, the food, the drinks or the service. Had dinner here on a Sunday night and had no problems getting in without a reservation (though I think with a reservation you'd get a table by the window). The service and food were awesome. We are still talking about the drinks we had here (the lemon chiffon wedding cake martini is to die for, though save it for dessert!). The meals were reasonably priced $25-30 per person. The restaurant is dimly lit to let the lights of the city below take center stage.

“Great food, great location, great view”
Reviewed October 8, 2012

Usually you get one, maybe two, of the good food/location/view choices. You get all three and reasonable prices at the Portland City Grill.

We had a toddler in our party and our server and the manager went above and beyond to accommodate. Definitely added to the pleasant experience for all.

The lunch specials are very reasonably priced. Great value.
