First - This is not a standard sit-down table service restaurant. Grassa is part of the growing trend of "fast casual" dining experiences. You order first thing when you walk in and take a number. There are some small tables, but much of the dining is on communal long counter height central tables.
There is an open kitchen and an industrial finish to the place. Hipster vinyl records play music from any age. Noise levels are on the higher end, but not problematic.
When I first began to consider a review for Grassa, I was thinking it a 4/5, but then I realized for what they are trying to do, and how they do it, it deserves a 5/5. The service is non-traditional, but quick and excellent. The atmosphere, again nontraditional feeling like an industrial kitchen, but very well done. The food is simple, quick, with the highest quality and fresh (made daily) pasty, and again excellent and of the four "bowls" I tasted, each was adventurous, unique and impressive. (baby octopus with squid ink / olive, caper and anchovy / etc) And value is exceptional. My teenagers also loved it. This is not fancy, but it is refined, and a must try for foodies.
