Following lots of positive reviews we made reservations and arrived to find a full restaurant with a line of waiting customers. Our table was not ready but we got one within 20 minutes. The noise level was over the top and it was impossible to conduct a conversation.
The menu is varied and interesting but I am suspicious when I see no Asian diners or servers in a "Chinese" eatery. We were pleasantly surprised when dinner was served. Despite a capacity crowd service was fast and the staff hustled.
Our Nori Seaweed Soup was outstanding and a nice cross between Japanese and Chinese. The rest of our courses were fairly standard renditions of Mu Shu Pork, Shitake Mushrooms with Baby Bok Choy, and shrimp in lobster sauce. Satisfying but not really outstanding.
It is a popular Portland family restaurant and they handle crowds well. Not a place for a quiet romantic date.
