Had my first visit and it was well worth it. Great food and attentive service in a relaxed atmosphere.

Esan is located in Northwest Portland outside the main hustle and bustle of downtown so parking should be easy to find. Inside the quaint restaurant there is a peaceful and welcoming atmosphere where you will be served quickly by friendly and helpful staff who gave us personalized recommendations. Esan has the best Thai food we've had and is ideal for a couple, but a wonderful place for families and/or friends. The plates are about $9 (for lunch) and is well worth it considering the top quality and great quantity of food you receive.
OMG, best fried rice ever! We were just down the street at Kell’s but thought this place looked interesting and thought we would stop before the walk back to our hotel. We decided we would get something to share and decided on the pineapple fried rice. Our server told us they were out of pineapple, but suggested mango. OMG, it was soo good. We ate so quickly because it was soo good we just couldn't stop eating it. It had chicken and fresh peas along with the mango and nice, subtle flavoring. Delicious.
We ordered 2 drinks and even though it wasn't Happy Hour, I thought the $6.50 price was pretty decent. I really enjoyed my Thai Me Up.
The server was really friendly and checked in on us enough. And no issue with splitting the bill in half.
My only issues was it was pretty dark in here. And although there were tables by the window we didn't get one, but got one crammed in between other tables. The next 2 couples after us got to sit by the window. I guess we could have requested it.
I would for sure some back to this restaurant! We were still talking about that fried rice days later.
the food was amazing!! had the fried rice in a pineapple and my hubs a curry. the portions are big and service friendly! as for friends or couples a great place with nice athmosphere to have a good thai-time :)
Nice for quick lunches
