It has the usual type of pub fare served here, but the waitstaff was pleasant and fast, and drinks were swerved very promptly.I was surprised as it was pretty crowded and between 6pm and 7pm as well.Lots of places to explore as you wander down the halls checking out the interior of the school and it gives it a fun vibe as well.

Kennedy School is old hat now, but it's important to remember what a marvel it was when it opened -- and still is to people from many other parts of the country. A nearly 100 year old school was painstakingly restored with tons of art everywhere, classrooms converted to guest rooms and bars. There's an outdoor soaking pool surrounded by tiki torches, an auditorium filled with overstuffed furniture where you can watch $2 movies, three different bars, and a large restaurant/pub space with a huge area of outdoor seating (weather permitting, which it usually does during the summer tourist season).

The food, beer, wine and spirits are far from spectacular, but they are decent and they are consistent with the other McMenamins. A big draw for us is that they offer Oregon Country beef (free-range, no endocrine-disrupting growth hormones or MRSA-breeding antibiotics) and, important for me because I am gluten intolerant, gluten-free buns. The fries are soggy but skin-on and tasty, the burgers are unspectacular but perfectly fine, there's good draft root beer on tap, and they make the beer, wine and spirits themselves. As long as you're not too snooty, it's hard not to like this place.

The atmosphere is very cool. An old school building turned into a hotel/restaurant/movie theatre/etc. True, it's a little strange and has a creepy haunted house feel to it but very unique. Service was terrible!! Our waiters didn't have a clue to the specials and took forever to grt pur foos. The portion was like an appetizer. Good beer though.

Staff was rude, allowing people into the soaking pool without getting ID's as they are required to do except I was not allowed to without showing ID - this was just to go watch as friends were in the pool but others just watching did go in and did not show ID - The dressing room for said soaking pool is non-existent as men and women change together in non-locking room (only 1 changing room) - also lockers in the room as non-secureable. I had a cup of coffee and a "Tavern Dinner Salad" and the total was $10.95 - outrageous. The only reason I went was a group of friends were going to celebrate 3 birthdays - otherwise I would NOT have gone - Not good for anyone

I am here very other week for Geek Trivia and know this place well. It's a large elementary school that's been turned into a brewpub and event space. Some of the bars have a nicely steampunk feel to them. The old principal's office is now a cigar bar. The old auditorium and gym host lots of events like trivia and movie marathons.

For the actual restaurant part, this is often referred to by locals as 'The McMenamins that actually has good service.' The local chain of brewpubs is famous for horrible service, but this one breaks that pattern and operates to a much higher standard.
