“Great, inexpensive, vegetarian, vegan friendly Mexican food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 20, 2012

I've been going here since 1994. The food is good! I love the vegetarian soft tostada with cilantro added. (Its a giant burrito) The green hot sauce is the best!

“Our weekly take-out place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 27, 2011

Since 'discovering' La Sirenita a couple years ago (we live in the neighborhood), it's been a weekly staple ever since. There's a bit of a debate as to which is the 'best' tacqueria on NE Alberta (the competition: La Bonita, which is almost next door), but we have our favorite. I've tried the tacos, from pollo to carne asada, to pesca and lengua (all very good) but the hands-down favorite is the 'carnitas' version, with its juicy and slighty singed pulled pork meat. Tacos (as of mid-2011) are only $1.35, a double wrapped warm flour tortilla, loaded with meat and salsa; burritos are stuffed full of beans, meat and more salsa for around $4.

The place is nothing to look at, either outside or in; a bland storefront with a couple outdoor tables (next to a scruffy little tienda) and mismatched chairs and tables inside... but DO NOT let that detract from the experience. Good food & great prices!

“Food good- Food poisoning bad!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 16, 2009

I used to eat here a lot, but it only takes one time getting food poisoning to sour you on any place. But in all fairness it only happened once.I rated the food on its flavor , not its potential health risk. It tastes good and is very cheap, but you get what you pay for. After you seat yourself here ,you may have to seat yourself in the bathroom for the next couple days! Eat at your own risk.

This place was good a few years ago. Lately though the food is bland. It's still cheap, but I'll go two doors down and get some tastier food.
