Description: Andina draws inspiration from the native culinary traditions of Peru, as well as from the contemporary cooking by some of Peru’s leading chefs. Owner Doris Rodriguez de Platt, collaborates with Andina’s kitchen team to develop a menu that celebrates her family’s Andean roots, interweaving the ideas and techniques of both Criollo and Novo-Andean cuisines. The kitchen sources native and local ingredients to create dishes at once traditionally rooted and personally inspired. Founded in 2003, Andina emerged as one of the region’s leading Peruvian restaurants and continues to generate wide appeal within the food communities in and around Portland, and much further afield.

“Fabulous!”
Reviewed August 8, 2014

First time visit and it did not disappoint! We saw the review on Trip Advisor but also had it recommended by a friend. Terrific professional service and amazing food. I could have just eaten the bread and 'salsa' it was so good. Had the chilled mussels on half shell and scallops, my husband had duck as his main, everything was awesome. Creme brûlée for dessert also worth trying. Can't wait to come back. Make a reservation well in advance, it was packed.

“Fabulous meal experience”
Reviewed August 7, 2014

Because of its high rating on Trip Advisor, we choose this place for our fancy meal out while in Portland. Everything about the place was top notch, including the outstanding service. Our party of six decided to stick to tapas so we could share and taste many different dishes. Our server was extremely knowledgeable and helped us choose foods that met our requirements (e.g., not too spicy), and he didn't steer us wrong. We had about six tapas, and I can't remember each of them, but one was better than the next. I especially liked the beef heart (never had it before) and empanadas. Dessert was a trio of creme brûlée: chocolate, vanilla, and rum. Oh, and their red sangria is tops. You won't be disappointed, but you may want to make a reservation because it was packed. The only thing that could have made it better is if they had outdoor seating.

“Disappointed but maybe unfairly”
Reviewed August 6, 2014

As tapa/small plates fanatics I think we set an unreachable expectation. Right away the service was great and they were able to give us a courtyard table. Throughout the meal, service stood out with even the wine server chipping in some suggestions. The food was great with a real clear Spanish theme providing unique flavours. We just didn't have the 1 or 2 'to die for' dishes we hoped for. That said the wine list yielded a stellar rated pinot at a phenomenal price. The meal ended with a special dessert complete with personalized message for our occasion. I suspect this truly deserves a 5 star rating but we just didn't feel it this particular time.

“Great place”
Reviewed August 6, 2014

We had a great meal at Andina. First the atmosphere is great. They had live guitar for the dinner crowd, and the decoration is wonderful. Drinks from the bar are also awesome. The red sangria was very good and is a good value at $5. My wife had the mojito that was also excellent, but more expensive. The menu takes some looking over, but the staff were helpful with good suggestions. The food was also great. This place has lots of fresh flavors, and wonderful interesting dishes that you will not find in most other restaurants. Everything was prepared just right. Overall this was a great un-ordinary place that we both greatly enjoyed.
