Description: Andina draws inspiration from the native culinary traditions of Peru, as well as from the contemporary cooking by some of Peru’s leading chefs. Owner Doris Rodriguez de Platt, collaborates with Andina’s kitchen team to develop a menu that celebrates her family’s Andean roots, interweaving the ideas and techniques of both Criollo and Novo-Andean cuisines. The kitchen sources native and local ingredients to create dishes at once traditionally rooted and personally inspired. Founded in 2003, Andina emerged as one of the region’s leading Peruvian restaurants and continues to generate wide appeal within the food communities in and around Portland, and much further afield.

“Tapas!”
Reviewed March 4, 2014

Excellent Peruvian food-tapas small and large plates to share or for yourself. The food is delicious with great flavor and we had to go back several times to try everything, we haven't found anything we haven't liked yet. I gave only 4 stars and not 5 as the waiters/waitresses we had serve us in 9 of 10 visits were slow and abrupt in manner. Obviously this hasn't stopped us from going as the food really is very nice.

“Ceviche, gluten free, gastronomic delight”
Reviewed March 4, 2014

Our server was wonderful, easy-going, knowledgable and exceptionally helpful. He and the cooks were wonderfully helpful with my gluten free (celiac) needs and also my dairy allergy. The side of yucca fries was a marvelous touch. This type of service option is rare if ever experienced when dining out. The ceviche was outstanding. We had three different ones and would have continued with only ceviche had our other plates not been equally delicious--a delectable tartar and a magnificent avocado prawn salad.

“Peru in Portland”
Reviewed March 4, 2014

This is an extremely good place for dinner. Unusual sounding menu, but ultimately it is out of this world good. Wait staff is helpful, friendly. There's the main floor, a downstairs area, and a bar. You can't go wrong at Andina.

“Consistently wonderful”
Reviewed March 4, 2014

Time after time, Andina provides a terrific dining experience. We almost always opt for the tapas menu, and there's always something we haven't tried before that completely wows us. We always recommend this restaurant to out of town visitors. If they don't like it, it's not the restaurant, it's them.

“Excellent”
Reviewed March 4, 2014

This is a hot spot in Portland, a few blocks north of Powells Books in the Pearl District. I'd never had Peruvian food before and was expecting something extremely different, but the food wasn't all that unique. It was, however, delicious. We ordered several small plates plus one entrée to share. GET THE COOKIE for dessert! Caramel wedged between two perfect sugar cookies: sounds boring, but it was fantastic.
