Description: Andina draws inspiration from the native culinary traditions of Peru, as well as from the contemporary cooking by some of Peru’s leading chefs. Owner Doris Rodriguez de Platt, collaborates with Andina’s kitchen team to develop a menu that celebrates her family’s Andean roots, interweaving the ideas and techniques of both Criollo and Novo-Andean cuisines. The kitchen sources native and local ingredients to create dishes at once traditionally rooted and personally inspired. Founded in 2003, Andina emerged as one of the region’s leading Peruvian restaurants and continues to generate wide appeal within the food communities in and around Portland, and much further afield.

We went to Andina on January 31st to celebrate our friend's wedding and I was impressed overall. We decided to go with several tapas and everything was excellent. We tried the Tortilla de Patata (potato frittata), Jamon Serrano (excellent aged Serrano Ham), Empanadas De Carne (slow cooked beef), Chicharrones de Langostinos (amazing prawns) and Concha a la Parrilla (diver scallops-very tasty). You can order these tapas small, medium or large and the server will provide recommendations. Great server staff, they were attentive, prompt and courteous. The desserts are out of this world, particularly Canutos de Quinua Maracuya (the passionfruit mousse and mango-lemongrass sorbet was amazing).

I visited Andina with a party of 5 in January 2014, the service was a bit hectic at first but they brought in a second waiter and managed the rest of the night just fine. The food was perfectly seasoned and nicely presented. The wild boar mole was top notch and the scallops were flavorful and worth the price. I visited PIO PIO in Hell’s Kitchen Manhattan and I have to say Andina over all is better.

Great culinary journey at Andina. We got a set of tapas to try out different things and were not disappointed. yuca rellena, kind of classical fried cheesestick, the "causa" mixta nikkei is an awesome combination of flavors and got some Musciame de atun (you need to like cured fish for this one). The ceviche de pescado is really good too, very good fish quality. The only downside is the price tag but you get what you paid for in terms of quality. Give it a try !

This is a foodie's dream restaurant. We met some friends there and all just shared a sampling of 4 or 5 items off the menu. Everything was flavored so wonderfully, and the presentation was remarkable. It was very busy, so I'd recommend making a reservation. I will definitely go back again.

Andina was recommended in several guidebooks and it did not disappoint. This was one of three dinners we had on a recent visit to Portland and this was clearly the best. The food here was just superb, with an excellent presentation as well as being truly delicious. I had grilled tuna and my wife had scallops, both were as good as we've ever had. In addition, the pisco sours and desserts were delicious.
