Description: Andina draws inspiration from the native culinary traditions of Peru, as well as from the contemporary cooking by some of Peru’s leading chefs. Owner Doris Rodriguez de Platt, collaborates with Andina’s kitchen team to develop a menu that celebrates her family’s Andean roots, interweaving the ideas and techniques of both Criollo and Novo-Andean cuisines. The kitchen sources native and local ingredients to create dishes at once traditionally rooted and personally inspired. Founded in 2003, Andina emerged as one of the region’s leading Peruvian restaurants and continues to generate wide appeal within the food communities in and around Portland, and much further afield.

Andina is incredible. The food selection is unique sending your taste buds to the Universe. I love their beet salad as well as the quinoa salad. Their coffee is pressed to perfection.

We were lucky to find a table on a Friday night, it is popular for a reason.
Live music, nice service and damn good Peruvian food made it a very cool experience.

We were guests of friends in Portland for dinner at Andina. They offer the plates in 3 sizes which is unusual for a Tapas restaurant in my experience. Four of us shared 4 medium sized plates and it was more than enough food. All were good.

ANTICUCHO DE POLLO marinated chicken kebobs, served with a spicy salsa de rocoto
MORADA Peruvian purple potato and shredded chicken breast with ají amarillo
SOLTERITO Yukon Gold potato with a salad of green beans, fresh corn, cotija cheese and tomatoes
QUESOS ARTESANOS CON MEMBRILLO three artisanal cheeses with quince jam and cancha

Andina is very busy and loud so not a place for a quiet dinner. There was a guitar player in the bar providing typical Spanish classical songs, but the place is so loud that it was hard to hear him.

All in all a very nice experience.

Andina has been extremely popular since it first opened--and for a reason; the cuisine is unique and exceedingly well prepared. We couldn't get in until 9:30 on a Saturday (that was booking 2 weeks out) but we didn't mind as it gave us time to wander through the Pearl first. By the time we sat down to dinner, it was still packed--but that didn't decrease the quality of either the service or the exceptional food. We're from a city that has plenty of stellar restaurants (Seattle) so our bar is high--and this met or exceeded our expectations. Highly recommended.

From the pisco sours (a must when you are in a Peruvian restaurant) to deserts, the food was delicious. You can order any size plate for appetizers: the empanatas and chiles rellenos were noteworthy. The restaurant was crowded, and a bit noisy, but our table of four was still able to have a conversation.
