Description: Andina draws inspiration from the native culinary traditions of Peru, as well as from the contemporary cooking by some of Peru’s leading chefs. Owner Doris Rodriguez de Platt, collaborates with Andina’s kitchen team to develop a menu that celebrates her family’s Andean roots, interweaving the ideas and techniques of both Criollo and Novo-Andean cuisines. The kitchen sources native and local ingredients to create dishes at once traditionally rooted and personally inspired. Founded in 2003, Andina emerged as one of the region’s leading Peruvian restaurants and continues to generate wide appeal within the food communities in and around Portland, and much further afield.

Excellent food - and a great gluten-free menu. (They actually provide a bread substitute for the gluten-intolerant - fried yucca. Three cheers!) Tapas: select carefully; a few of the tapas are boring, but most are quite tasty. Our favorites: octopus, beef heart, asparagus. Main courses: pork loin, duck breast, catch of the day all stand out. Tables for 4 are very nicely spaced, but most of the 2-person tables are much too close together, unless you enjoy eaves-dropping on your neighbors, which we don't. Recruit a 3d person if you can. Otherwise, this place is fantastic! If you like cocktails be sure to try the ginger rum & grapefruit juice.

I love this restaurant. It's a little spendy, but worth every penny. I have never had a bad dish! Although the last time I went the service was a little confusing as we didn't have one waiter, but several. However, I don't care! I had a cocktail (fabulous), small and medium plates (fabulous), wine (fabulous), port and dessert (super fabulous). It is a very popular restaurant, so make reservations or get there early. You will not be disappointed!

Best place for dinner in the Pearl…maybe in Portland? If you are looking for something a little different with the option of many small plates, as well as main course dinners, Andina is the place to go. The restaurant has a great atmosphere with authentic South American décor. Our waiters were very knowledgeable about the menu (both in Spanish and English), answering in great detail our questions about the menu and wine. We split some small plates with our friends (you can get different size/priced small plates depending on how may you want to share with). The empanadas were the best I’ve had! I could have made a complete meal out of them. To try something different (and because the waiter recommended it), I had the octopus small plate for my main course. It was delicious and tender, cooked perfectly with a hint of smoky flavor. My wife’s small plate of chicken skewers was wonderful with a very flavorful dipping sauce. You have to try this restaurant whether you live in Portland or are just visiting. You won’t be disappointed!

Andina is a special place, with a lively, but not too noisy crowd. Food is top notch, with particular emphasis on the lamb shank, which never fils to satisfy. The place is popular, so a reservation for the upstairs dining room is a must. BUT, there is seating in the bar area (which is a bit cramped for our style) and a nice"patio" dining area downstairs; you don't need reservations for either spot.
The staff is professional, knowledgeable and attentive. One of the nice touches is that the owner visits almost every table and she delights in having a nice conversation about the food and her native Peru, without being an intrusive part of your dinner.

I know that Andina has been rated by many people for Trip Advisor, Urban Spoon, Portland Monthly Magazine, etc. and we agree 100% with the majority of these: Andina is an OUTSTANDING restaurant in every category! The food, atmosphere, service, etc. are fantastic in every way. The bar is also a great place to enjoy fabulous and also some unusual drinks, along with great tapas-style plates. We having been eating here for about four years and abosolutely love everything about Andina!! All our Portland friends agree,...
