Without a doubt Eleni's has the best Greek food I have had in a long time. Excellent flavoring and a wide assortment of dishes. Do make reservations on weekends as it is packed. It is amazing that the chefs keep up with the pace, but they do and will please your pallette. The service is attentive as well.

We went on a Friday night. It was not busy and we were seated quickly. The waiter was odd. It was our first time there and we were looking for recommendations for food items and e would just look at us with a blank stare. he wasn't a bad waiter, just odd. The food was good. We had the calamari and it was a good portion but a little coldish, like maybe it had sat there for a minute before being brought to our table. The soup was outstanding and lamb was flavorful and tender. The dessert was only so so. The prices are reasonable.

We love Greek Food and were looking forward to trying Eleni's. We went on a Saturday night and were seated right away. The waiter was attentive and very friendly. We ordered appetizers, salads, a vegetable and 3 main dishes to share among 4 adults. The appetizers, two different dips were unbelievably small. Not even 2 tablespoons on each plate. One came without the tomatos and olives listed on the menue, when we asked, the waiter said they were out of them. About twenty minutes after the appetizers were delivered we were told they were out of the vegetable and one of the main dishes. We declined choosing a replacement and just asked for the salads which did not come until about 20 minutes after the 2 main dishes were delivered. The main dishes and salads were reasonable portions and good...but the overall experience left us disappointed and we will not be back. Who runs out of olives in a Greek Restaurant?

My husband and I went to Eleni's in Sellwood on Friday night at 7:50 p.m. We were promptly seated and there was no line. We ordered two appetizers - the grilled calamari and the saganaki, both appetizers which we've ordered many times before. More than 30 minutes passed - at which point our server mentioned that our appetizers should come soon and someone brought us bread. Because of the delays we decided not to order dinner but to cook at home and we ordered baklava to go (Eleni's baklava is one of our favorite.) By 8:30 p.m. our order still had still not arrived and our server said there had been a problem with the saganaki not cooking properly. (By this time the table beside us had finished their appetizers and received and finished their main meal!). The server said the bakalava we'd ordered to go would be on the house. Our saganaki arrived seconds afterward - was still not cooked properly and we sent it back. The calamarai arrived a couple do minutes after that and was delicious. When our bill arrived we paid for the calamari and the baklava (which was on the bill - even though we 'd been told it was on the house.) At that point we didn't feel like haggling over what was promised, so we paid and left. We really like good restaurants to stay in our neighborhood but were so disappointed with our experience I don't think we'll be back anytime soon.

normally don't like greek, but this was a very pleasant surprise. we were a group of six and had a lot of the mezze and two bottles of wine and water and bill was $80 per couple. not bad i thought as the food was delicious although it wasn't filling as we shared everything between us. would recommend doing that as everything i tasted was great. make sure you get the price points on the wine before ordering. although the bartender is very knowledgeable and helpful, one might be suggested that are pricey!
