Really good food, great service. Loved our server - she was really friendly and helpful, but not overbearing. She happily directed us to a couple of other good places after we told her our plan for the evening was lots of small plates at several restaurants.

The only blip of our visit was when we asked about root beer. My friend is from Europe and had never had it. Server said they had an excellent root beer from a local brewery. Turned out to be a low-quality grocery store brand.

So not the best place by any stretch, but certainly worth a visit.

Four of us dined there the other night. Everyone liked their food, although it could have been
a bit hotter. I ordered the fried chicken, which was wonderful!!!

“Fancy and Casual all in one!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 9, 2014

i came here with a few friends and we decided to order 4 different plates and just share them all. The waitress was great about it and thought it was a good idea. We had the wild mushroom risotto, the halibut, short rib pot roast, and the hanger steak. all of the dishes were good but I really likes the halibut. It had pistachios in it that really made the fish taste delicious. We all had a bunch of cocktails that were made with fresh berries. I will be back for their happy hour as the menu looks pretty good!

“Hit and miss”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 6, 2014

Having had a very nice meal at the neighbouring Irving St Kitchen, on our two day stay in Portland, we walked around the neighbourhood and looked at the restaurant menus. This place seemed interesting, so we went there the next evening. And we didn’t quite know what to make of it.

Curiously, it seemed like the starter and the main course were made by two different chefs (maybe they were?!). Both our starters were absolutely brilliant - crab cakes to die for! So we were looking forward to the main course, but it was disappointing. My beef was a bit boring, although well cooked, with a simple potato mash, gravy and little carrots. My granny could have cooked that - nothing wrong with it, just no “wow-factor”. Wholesome and plentiful. My husband’s fish, however, was completely ruined. The raw components - halibut, mushrooms and asparagus - were great quality, but all made almost inedible by a powerfully vinegary sauce. Who on earth pairs fish with vinegar? I tried some of the wild mushrooms it came with (I love mushrooms!) - they were drenched in vinegar and it looked like they may have been preserved in it. It was a disaster, and a huge disappointment. So being traumatised by the fish, we decided not to have a dessert there and fled.

On the positive side, the decor is interesting, the service was good and the general atmosphere pleasant. The prices are quite high though.
