“Be careful of Happy Hour”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 27, 2010

Three friends went to catch happy hour. Ordered 5 dishes which was plenty to snack on. Our $100 bill came - we thought our bartender had the wrong tab. But no, he said he decided to order full portions for us since we looked hungry and he was worried 5 dishes wouldnt be enough. So he decided happy hour plates and prices wouldn't be a fit for us. Won't be back. Tried contacting management about it so it wouldn't happen to others..no response

“Best if you are a regular. Not sure why they are so rude to others.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 28, 2010

We stopped by for lunch before a movie. Most of the people eating lunch were old, but I'd heard it was a fun place to eat, and I'm almost old. We were a bit put off by the attitude of the host and felt like we hadn't passed some litmus test for whom was the right kind of person to eat at the Heathman. After the Itzhak Perlman concert we thought about giving it another try, but life's too short and we went to Pazzo and had a great meal with great service instead. When I turn 70 I'll try it again and see if they're any nicer.

One of the best restaurants in Portland with attentive service and well prepared food. Great presentation. They only need work on the details, like portion size and subtle flavoring, in order to compete with the best restaurants in larger cities.

“Great food, atmosphere, and music”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 11, 2009

The Heathman restaurant has some of the best food around. Everything is always excellent. It is somewhat expensive. However, it would be easy to share a meal as the portions are generous.
One of our favorite parts of this great old hotel is the lounge area behind the restaurant and bar. Here, there are cozy dining spots. One can order a full meal, appetizers, or just dessert. After 7 PM on Thurs-Sat (sometimes this varies) there are great jazz groups playing and singing in this lounge. Its a great and romantic spot to enjoy.

“Fine Dining in Stumptown”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 1, 2009

In July 2009, we had the opporunity to dine in the Heathman Restaurant, within the same building as the Healthman Hotel in downtown PDX. Atmosphere is first rate and service is first rate too. Featured in the Northwest Travel segment of the Travel Channel series, No Reservations. Our server told us we sat in the same seat as the series host Anthony Bourdain, and in fact his picture was up on a column just to our right. Modest portions but very well prepared and tasty dishes with local ingredients. All of dishes were yummy! If you're looking for first rate atmosphere, service and fine foods, then I recommend this dining establishment to you.
