Our 2 adult children were in town for a visit...we all decided on Italian. My husband and I have been here many times, but not in the past year. Called at 5:00pm Saturday night for a reservation and of course none were available. They said, come on down we have outdoor seating and a few "walk-in tables". We arrived just before 6 and the host was very accommodating...20 minute wait for an outside table. We went around the corner to Olive or Twist for a cocktail. Dinner was great, fresh bread to start and we all had different pastas and each was very authentic, and good size portions. Wine selection was good...after our bottle we had a carafe of the house Sangiovese. Overall, a wonderful evening :)

The smell and ambiance of this small neighborhood Italian restaurant will really make you feel like you're in Italy. The service was excellent...even too fast, the menu was small with numerous pastas--but basically pasta. We wish there was more to choose from, ie, chicken, fish, etc. The small cramped space added to the experience. A very nice wine list, great fresh bread and nice starter salads. Both my wife's and my pastas were very good and of substantial size. With a nice bottle of wine, two people can dine for under $100.00 including tip. It's not romantic, but a good value...there are better Italian restaurants in the city, but none will make you feel you've returned to Italy like this one does.

Recommended by friends. Made reservations a week before trip to Portland; only 830 pm seating available on a Saturday night. Arrived early, but the place was full and had to wait outside with a carafe of Sangiovese until the appointed hour. Small place, crowded seating, but great atmosphere, wonderful food and friendly, helpful service. Only regret was that, despite a varied standard menu (very reasonable prices), there was only one seafood entrée offered.

We discovered this place a few months ago, and now have visited each of the 3 times we have been back to Portland. It is very much like an Italian trattoria. Some of the specials have been things that we see very seldom outside of Italy (cuttlefish ink pasta), and the food has been consistently good. They also have a few wines that are difficult to find here. And the waiters have a little of that Italian waiter attitude (in a nice way). It is always full, so we must not be the only fans.
