“Pricy for what is was...TERRIFIC wine list...lovely neighbourhood”
Reviewed July 16, 2011

Sellwood is a terrific local neighbourhood in Portland Oregon. Dining at Portofino was an enjoyable experience for us upon arrival. We dined al fresco with an excellent bottle from the EXTENSIVE cartes des vins. Impressive. Food was fine if a tad pricy for what it was. Mixed experience: *Excellent* wine service, ordinary food service, overall a 'very good' and recommended.

“Great little Italian spot in Sellwood”
Reviewed April 16, 2011

We started our visit to Portofino by coming in the VIP entrance (the back through the kitchen) We were seated right away. the place is small, but cozy and really has close to the feel of being in a little cafe in Italy. They had an extensive bottled wine list and some diverse menu choices. The lasagne was delicous, my wife had a nut encrusted fish dish that she enjoyed and my daughter had a pasta and sauce dish. The wine was enjoyable, the food very good and the staff excellent. Each member of the staff stopped to help at various stages of the meal. The meal ended with a heaping double esspresso and a creme brulee. Very much enjoyed our visit and will return

“Solid brunch spot, but not especially distinctive”
Reviewed May 29, 2010

Decent neighborhood spot -- we had brunch here on a Saturday while visiting friends who live around the corner. The midday offerings were fine, but just that. My husband and I ordered the frittata -- you pick three ingredients, the chef adds basil. Generously sized, served on top of home fries. Those could have used a little more cooking time; otherwise, no complaints. No raves either.

The menu had other tempting items, including the signature tiramisu french toast, which boasts batter seasoned with orange zest and Marsala-Kahlua zabaglione drizzled over the finished dish. We'll have to try that on the next visit if we're in the area. That's my general feeling about the place -- worth visiting if you're nearby, but not something I'd seek out for its brunch.
