From the Beerquest website: "The tour begins with beer samples in an underground cigar bar where patrons regularly experience paranormal activity." Our tour began by waiting 15 minutes for beer samples in a banquet room. We spent about one minute in the cigar bar before heading out for the walk. Those of us in the back of the group literally saw nothing of this room. Also from the website: "Our expert tour guides..." Unfortunately our tour guide had a fair amount of Portland's history incorrect. For instance, we were told the coin used in the historic toss to determine Portland's name was a two headed coin thus suggesting underhandedness. The exact coin is on display at the Oregon Historical society and it's not a two headed coin. This is only one of many inaccuracies. Another statement from the website: "guests will embark on an exclusive 20-minute visit into one of Portland’s original Shanghai Tunnels". Our tour visited no tunnels. We spent about 15 minutes in a room about 15 x 20 in the basement of a pizza parlour but no tunnel. And in this room we were shown a video from a TV show. Not at all what we had expected. The beer samples were tasty but particularly the ones in the beginning at Kells, we weren't given enough time to enjoy them. Our guide kept saying "the beer is coming" and when they did we had about 10 minutes to finish all three samples before going outside. The walking includes periods of standing in one spot for up to 10 minutes. This would have been unbearable if it were raining. The walk included way too many stops in front of place you cannot go in or even look in a window. Our guide was friendly and upbeat but laughed nervously much too frequently and used the term "very, very cool" dozens and dozens of times. Included a lot of repetition of information. Overall very disappointing experience.
