Last night, on the recommendation of our daughter in law, my lovely wife and I saw the Tempest at the Artists Repertory Theater. Neither of us are Shakespeare aficionados, so we approached the evening with a modicum of trepidation. Not to worry. The production was amusing and extremely well performed. The talent of the actors was amazing. As entertainment goes in the new millennium, the tickets were reasonably priced. I would highly recommend it to anyone with an interest in this sort of thing.
We parked on the street with out difficulty. (The theater is quite near Civic Stadium…or whatever they're calling it this week. As long as there isn't a soccer match, parking should be a breeze.) Plenty of dining options are available nearby.
As an interesting sidelight, the theater sold a variety of beer, wine and cookies which one was permitted to take into the performance. I personally would worry about falling asleep and drooling on the shoulder of the person sitting next to me. However, a surprising number of patrons took advantage to sip an IPA while imbibing the bard.
