“Good happy hour visit”
Reviewed May 22, 2013

We tried happy hour at the Portland Seafood Company. You can just grab a seat in the bar area instead of queuing at the hostess counter.
Knowing the happy hour dishes were generally smaller, we ordered a bunch of items to give us a bit of variety.
Traditional oyster shooters: Not enjoyable as the seafood cocktail sauce way overwhelmed the flavour.
Cod slider: It's $2.99 a slider and comes with potato chips. Tasty sandwich.
New England clam chowder: Meh, nothing special.
Colossal onion rings: Tasty rings with a spicy tartar sauce. The rings were greasy as heck though.
Fish & Chips: Two small pieces of mystery white fish and potato chips (instead of fries). The fish was ok as was the tartar sauce. The ranch potato chips were a bit of a disappointment though.

Our server was very friendly (a bit overly friendly even). Food came out fairly quick. Total bill with drinks and tip was very reasonable.

Would consider returning but be a bit more selective in what we order.

“Worst fried calamari ever!”
Reviewed April 13, 2013 via mobile

We just arrived to Portland area after driving 11 hours and we tried this place. We ordered fried calamari and it was overfried & salty. The rest of our food was ok. The seafood cobsalad was great. Service was good and prompt.

Unlikely to return.

“Way better than I thought!”
Reviewed April 10, 2013

My husband is the fish and seafood lover.... Me, not so much....at all! Gave it a try, and very pleasantly surprised. They were getting slammed, but they were organized, pleasant, and got us all in fairly quickly. Server was super. He had the salmon, report was: "pretty darn good!". I had chowder and a salad. OMG, just excellent. The salad was loaded with pears and candied walnuts, and excellent salad dressing, the chowder superb. Huge portions, reasonable price. We'll be back!

“Good food, Casual Atmosphere”
Reviewed March 30, 2013

We avoided the place when it was the Newport. Portland Seafood did a nice job of making it casual with reasonable pricing. Their fish and chips are good; fresh and flaky. My husband likes their shrimp hoagie. They have yummy Gorgonzola fries. It is relatively quiet if you can get a booth away from the mall entrance. I am quite picky about seafood, and this place is one we go back to often. Making reservations is easy. Nice place for dinner out with friends.

“Amazing...”
Reviewed March 16, 2013

I was there for lunch with a colleague, and we had the bucket of dungeon crab, clams, shrimps and it was all cooked in a garlic and white wine sauce.

We also followed the waiters recommendation when it came to what to drink and we had Weissbier. I know, they don't call it that in Oregon but that is still what it was. Together with a little lime it gave that fresh acidic beverage that truly made the perfect match to the food.

And the food. Oh my God... I grew up in Norway where seafood was abundant, fresh and wonderful and we never ate crab unless it was truly fresh - only an hour or so old at the most. The dungeon crab we got here was just like that, totally fresh, absolutely wonderful and we both lost ourselves to the food. This is finger food you know, and it can be quite messy. The waiter was kind enough to offer us complimentary washcloths, and we surely needed it having enjoyed the food so much.

All in all... If you want seafood better than this you need to catch it yourself and cook it over an open fire on an island way out in the ocean. It's the best restaurant seafood dish I've ever had. Everything was cooked to perfection, nothing overcooked or undercooked - it was all perfect.

To find a gem like this hidden in a shopping mall is simply unbelievable...

The waiter was also amazing and tended to our every meal - even getting a taxi afterwards. It was the perfect lunch...
