Owner description: Controversial 36-foot sculpture of a woman that is placed on a landing from the third floor of the Portland Building.

This sculpture is truly misplaced, but it is beautiful. As for the show, we are a unique little city and it always helps us from being pompus to take a laugh at ourselves.

Fabulous, fantastic, gorgeous, and designed especially to be seen from below, so that the perspective is correct, this is well worth walking a few extra blocks to see.

It's a cool statue, but they've placed it in a hard to see area, especially in summer when the trees are in full foliage. Best advice, look up!
If you're in the area it's worth looking at, but certainly not worth a trip across town to fight traffic.

So many people walk right by and don't even know she's there! It's a beautiful statue that looms above 5th Avenue from her second (third?) story perch on the controversial Portland Building, designed by Michael Graves. In the summer, she can be partially obscured from the ground by trees, but in the winter months she's visible in all her glory. For a better look, cross the street. Also -there's a museum of sorts on inside the building that has info on her, why she was made & how, etc. The second largest hammered copper sculpture in the world! (Statue of Liberty holds the #1 spot.)
