The Inn at Northrup has a great location---right on the streetcar line and very near several good restaurants, shops, and 2 small groceries. It was clean and the front desk staff answered any and all questions in a friendly and patient manner. The breakfast is good and coffee and tea are available throughout the day. Would stay here again any time. The only negative thing I can say is that they did not provide a shower cap in the room.

Well shoot, we always have a few packaged shower caps behind the front desk so feel free to ask for one next time you come visit us. Thank you for the review; we appreciate each and every one of them as it lets the world see just how much fun staying here can be!

Ilana (i hope that's correct), was awesome! She was very friendly and so helpful. The hotel had directions and mass transit passes for us to get anywhere, even to a Fred Meyers. The room was very clean and well stocked (kitchen items). It sits right on the transit line so getting into the pearl district and downtown was very easy.

What a great place to stay. Clean, fun, convenient. The streetcar stops just outside the entrance, and the hotel provides free passes. The morning breakfast is a cut above most, and they provide whole fruit and granola bars to stick away for later. The neighborhood is faboo--lots of shops and restaurants close by, Free parking is wonderful, and in this town, you can park your car and forget about it until it's time to leave town. We will definitely return!

And this review was faboo too! We’re glad you had such a good time and that you found the free parking all over town to be so convenient. Portland really is a great place to spend a weekend (or more) as it provides everything you’d want in a big city… except the big city! Thanks for the review.

The Inn is ideally situated 2 blocks from 23rd Ave NW - The Nob Hill shopping district, which is a long promenade of pubs, restaurants and boutique shops. For people who like to stroll and explore, the neighbourhood is far more interesting than downtown. The Inn is also right on a streetcar stop which proved invaluable since it seems there is a dearth of cabs in Portland. Downtown is 10 mins by streetcar and comes ever 10 mins or so. Most importantly, the Inn itself is great - we stayed in the Inn's best room which still cost far less than the worst room at most higher end downtown hotels. The room was very large with a king bed, queen sofabed, 2 flat screen TVs, fully equipped kitchen, bathroom and mini balcony. The decor is eclectic with bright colours and funky patterns, and while maybe not everyone's taste, is nonethless way more inspiring and upbeat than most drab spartan hotel rooms. The Inn has an artsy feel. What we enjoyed the most was the "includeds." We have stayed in many high end hotels and have lost our patience with paying exorbitant prices to stay in a small, economy room, only to be asked to pay for everything else on top of that (parking = $30, wifi = $10, local call = $1.00, etc.). At Norhtrup, parking, wifi, and local calls are free. A nice (cold) breakfast is included. They give you streetcar passes. There is no fitness centre, business centre, spa, porters, room service and other services like that, but if you never use them, you will enjoy not having to pay for them! We enjoyed having the space to spread out after a day of activities and will stay here again on our next annual excursion.

Everything about this place was great!!! We loved it and will be back next year. For everyone who makes negative comments about the funky decor go and stay somewhere else. It is a complete breath of fresh air and is proud of what it is!

Huge clean rooms. We love the location. The neighborhood gives us everything we'd want - but when we want more, the Streetcar is right outside the door and takes us downtown and to different parts of the Pearl District. Prices low for Portland - if you call them direct (versus booking online) they will upgrade your room as well.

The service is outstanding - I stepped up to the desk to ask how to pay/use the streetcar. The answer: "Here, have a free day pass, it's on us". They also are glad to recommend coffee, restaurants, bars and many destinations in walking distance.

We won't look anywhere else as long as this is under the current management team.
