“A fantastic and funky boutique hotel!”
Reviewed October 9, 2013

It was never a question for us...we wanted to be near downtown Portland but NOT 'in' downtown! When The Inn at Northrup Station appeared with so many positive reviews, I had to book our 2 night stay with them. Once we arrived, we were struck by the hip and cool look of the building, the fantastic, vibrant colors of the interior, the beautiful king-size bed and ample amount of room in our suite. The front-desk staff were so helpful with suggestions for dining, shopping, directions, and don't forget the complimentary streetcar tickets. The complimentary breakfast was full of 'the usual' offerings, but, certainly ample. There was even a Keurig coffeemaker in the room..what a nice surprise! Now, not everything could be perfect, so only one minor comment re: the bathroom...it was handicap accessible, which is a huge positive, but we were not in need of the shower seat/bench, so that kind of got in the way...believe me, we worked around it! Also, since the shower was handicap-accessible, the water got EVERYWHERE!! (Thank goodness they supplied plenty of towels..took care of that minor problem without difficulty!) We would stay again without question!

Hello!

You have really nailed down our location perfectly! We have the luxury of being so close to downtown, but don’t have to worry about downtown congestion. Within our neighborhood, Nob Hill, there are several of great attractions and restaurants all within a 10-15 minute walk, but if you want to head downtown it’s just a quick Streetcar ride away!

Thank you for your great review and we will see you next time!

I and a friend stayed overnight after coming to Portland for a wedding. From the outrageous wallpaper and carpeting to the serve yourself waffles, OG coffee, yogurts, cereals, juices, etc. at the convenience bar, we had a wonderful stay right in downtown. The rooms were oversized, with nice beds, TV, couch, mini kitchen, nice sized bath. Everything was bright, clean, with fun colors and patterns mixed and mingled everywhere in the building. I would definitely stay again!

Room Tip: We had no trouble with road rouse, stayed on the parking lot side.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience on TripAdvisor! We are glad you enjoyed our funky décor and amenities. We put a lot of thought in every little detail in our suites and the more colorful, the better! Don’t ask me how, but somehow it all just comes together and works… Thanks again for your review and we will see you again!

The Inn at Northrup Station is my favorite place to stay in Portland. The suites are beautifully appointed with well equipped kitchenettes including fridge/freezer with ice maker, dishwasher, dishes and cutlery, two flat screen TV's, neat office area, comfy sofa, reading chair and ottoman, and the most comfortable bed ever!! The staff is so helpful, and the breakfast has something for everyone--fresh juices, waffles, bagels yogurt, cereal, toast, eggs--everything one could want. The Inn provides free streetcar tickets, and the Portland Streetcar system is amazing--it will take you almost anywhere you might want to go in Portland--Jamison Square, Portland Art Museum, Powell's Bookstore, Whole Foods--you name it!

Room Tip: There is no pool or fitness center, but Portland is a fabulous city to "Walk" to get one...

What more can we say than thank you for this wonderful review! We do our best to have a variety of items available for our guests during breakfast. From our daily order of fresh bagels to our delicious coffee blend (both of which are sourced locally), we aim to have something for everybody! We are also happy to hear you took advantage of our complimentary streetcar passes to explore the city. Being so close to the streetcar stop, our guests are literally just a few stops away from many major destinations.

Thank you again for this exceptional review and we look forward to your next stay with us!

3 night stay on 1st floor. Great balcony outside overlooking street, ample parking in the rear. Appreciated the full kitchen with stove, microwave and full size fridge since we had a 2 1/2 year old. Super delicious breakfast, great coffee and really helpful staff in front. Our 2 1/2 yr old got sick the 1st night and vomited numerous times in the room. The font desk person (sorry forgot his name) came with lots of towels and helped take all the dirty ones away numerous times, which we really appreciated. Great eating nearby on NW 23rd and some of the other streets and we used the free trolley once to get around which was fun. We would stay here again the next time we're in this part of Portland.

My husband and I love to go to Portland on vacation and decided to give this hotel a try based on its good reviews. The hotel was cute and clean, but shortly after we arrived into our room on the second floor, we started hearing this loud, shattering/cracking noise coming from the floor above us. We tried ignoring it, but we could still hear it with the TV on. We went out for drinks and dinner and hope it had gone away, but it pretty much kept us up all night. We told the front desk several times, but they simply shrugged, told us that other guests had complained too, but that all of their rooms were booked so they couldn’t move us. Since we were on vacation, we decided to move to a different hotel where we could actually get some rest and sleep. Switching hotels was the last thing we felt like doing on a rainy Saturday afternoon while on vacation, but we had to because the shattering noise in our room was that bad. All along the staff at Northrup Station acted as if they didn’t care, almost as if guests complaining about the noise was the usual and they didn’t even offer an apology. Luckily we found last minute availability at hotel Lucia in downtown and had a great stay there, but we really regretted giving Northrup Station a try.

Dear Claudia,

Firstly, I'd like to thank you and your husband for selecting the Inn @ Northrup Station for your recent stay in Portland. Thank you also for sharing your experience on TripAdvisor. The weekend you stayed with us happened to coincide with a wedding celebration. It's unfortunate that the happy occasion for the bride and groom disrupted your stay. As we discussed at the time of check-in, we did have alternative rooms available at that time. Unfortunately, later during your stay when a change of suites was requested, we could not accommodate that request due to full occupancy. I apologize that your stay with us was not as you anticipated and I do hope that you give us another try. Please call me personally for special handling of your reservation and suite assignment; I am confident your next visit to the Inn at Northrup Station will be exceptional!

Sincerely,

Lisa Vinavong

We love this unusual boutique hotel. We've stay here a number of times and it's always been a great experience. The convenience to the trolley lines is a real feature. On our last visit we found the roof top garden for a nice oasis.
