“Fun and funky place to love”
Reviewed June 11, 2013

Our first time to stay in NW Portland rather than the Downtown SW. On the other side of the Pearl District from Downtown, someone told me it's the alphabet section. Northrup is the N street and I understand from a Portland friend that Q is Quimby and gave Beverly Cleary the name of her most famous (at least to me) character Ramona Quimby. The streetcar stops right in front and the parking lot is at level. You actually get to park your own car. Slightly expanded continental breakfast is help yourself. The room was giant and featured a pretty full kitchen.
The hip guy at the desk, (it's all the nicest brand of hip) told me to think Flintstones. All green and orange with surprising art and great touches. Large jars of pink and green soft candy at the desk and in the breakfast room. Just go!

Room Tip: We had a balcony facing the street on the first floor. I would prefer second floor next visit.

Thanks for your kind review! We're so glad you decided to give NW Portland a try and that you chose the Inn for your recent trip. We're happy you liked our breakfast and other amenities (including the jars of taffy!).

This hotel is funky, and unique. The colors are beautiful and happy. The room is huge with two separate areas. One area for your bed with TV and then a sitting area/ kitchen with TV. It had a full kitchen!! If you are on a budget this would be great to cook your meals in. We did not, because Portland has so many fabulous restaurants we wanted to try. Very clean as well. Breakfast was your standard continental breakfast with cereal, waffle maker and fantastic New York style bagels. If I return to Portland we would no doubt stay here again. Streetcar right in front of the hotel and many top restaurants nearby, you can't go wrong with this hotel!

Room Tip: Get a balcony you can sit outside and watch the streetcar go by!

Thank you for sharing your experience at the Inn with other TripAdvisor members!
We appreciate your feedback and glad you enjoyed all of the amenities our suites have to offer. Our suites include all of the conveniences of home (plus more!), but you may not need to utilize any of it as there are so many wonderful restaurants, cafes, and shops to explore....all just steps away from the Inn!
Thanks again and we look forward to having you back!

You can't go wrong, great room, great staff, close to all. As funky as Portland itself. I love this place. The rooms are quite large, with everything you need for cooking. Two TVs, and a real nice sofa. If you like the offbeat try it. They even give you free vouchers for the streetcar. I will never stay anywhere else.

Caring service, an ample breakfast room, and every room has a full kitchen area. It's right on the trolley line to downtown. And it's in a lovely shopping area too. Even an upstairs deck where you can have a cook out. Great stay!

I love this little spot. It's in the heart of the shopping and dining section of Portland. The staff is super nice and knows their way around town. It's got a crazy but fun design aesthetic. The beds are pretty darn comfy. And there's great (free) parking. Try it. You won't be disappointed!

We have always stayed on the 3rd flor - parking lot view - very quiet. I forgot to request it and we got a 1st floor Balcony with adjoining room. It wa NOISY. For $10 extra, you get the quiet upper floor rooms. We liked the little balcony and the sound of the streetcars, but not the kids running up and down the hallway and the noise from above. It was a full house, so we couldn't move. We will definitely return and stay on the 3rd floor again.

Room Tip: 3rd floor - parking lot side for $10 more and very quiet.

My sister and I stayed 3 nights at this really different hotel. It's in a beautiful old residential neighbourhood but 10 minutes from downtown by tram (which stops right in front of the inn), and this is a lively neighbourhood with lots of interesting shops, good cafes with sidewalk seating and excellent food. The Inn itself is bright and funky, not a cookie-cutter decor by a long shot, and the beds were the most comfortable I've ever had - luxurious linens and lots of pillows.

The continental breakfast was just fine, you get free tickets every day for the tram, and there is a lovely rooftop garden. We stayed on the third floor - it was a bit noisy in the evening with the traffic but most people would probably have kept the balcony door shut and the air conditioning on and wouldn't notice. It certainly didn't stop us from sleeping very well indeed.

All the staff was friendly and helpful, from the room cleaning ladies to the desk - and we asked their advice often for restaurant ideas and things to do, always with good results.

Room Tip: Upper floor is quiet, on the back if traffic really really bothers you and you like to sleep with th...

What makes the experience so special is that we are part of such a vibrant and fun neighborhood filled with fantastic restaurants and shops! We're glad that you and your sister enjoyed your time at the Inn and look forward to having you back.
