The Pumpkin patch is so much fun, the whole area is great. it is a nice ride in the country and of course the fresh veggies are wonderful.

Went to pick tomatoes, ended up with tomatoes, peppers of all kinds, squash, summer and winter, corn and some onions. Crowds of people with wagons set up to pick black eyed peas and field beans. Some ethnic veggies, specific peppers and beans. Great eggplants, bring a clipper or knife, they are hard to pick. Lot of variety between farms. Earlier in the year are strawberries.

Sauvies Island is a nice scenic trip from Portland and its great to see all the farms, especially the specialty farms such as Lavender. This review is for the store/produce stand only. Many people go to Sauvies and the opportunity to serve and make money is great but the owners here dont have that vision. Perhaps they are completely happy with it and thats great! Im just saying we are a little disappointed when stopping there but do anyway. We would drop a lot more money if they had food. They have a picnic table area but only have a BBQ going outside, or sometimes a Mexican catering truck, etc. Produce is local, good and of course higher than a supermarket but you do get local hand picked stuff so---what is there to buy has never disappointed us quality wise.

I giving it average because it is. It could be a fantastic place, attracting many more people but thats my vision. Im not sure if their main income comes from the outside sale of produce so this stand is just an extra icing and/or hobby? Though a lot of space in the produce shed, its not designed well and in parts one cant navigate well but in others there is too much open wasted space. Overall if you want a nice drive and wish to see other things on the island, its fun to walk in and get a few fruits and veggies.
