Trader Vic's Portland offers an escape to paradise in the middle of the Pearl District. Enjoy great appetizers and finger foods, amazing entrees and mind-blowing exotic cocktails while surrounded by the world-famous Trader Vic's decor.

Delicious Pupus and great Mai Tais in a fun, tiki-tropical setting. Happy to say that this second visit to Trader Vic's was a big improvement over a disappointing first try several months earlier. This time out, the food was excellent, the service improved, and the overall value and experience just a whole lot better. Be aware that the bar area gets pretty noisy and crowded, especially when the musicians arrive and set up for their evening performances. This can feel a bit hectic and loud, but I still Love Trader Vic's. Look forward to sitting on the dining side one of these days...it's airier, quieter and inviting.

At the end of our lovely meal the waiter asked us if we were interested in dessert and before he could get another word out of his mouth my mother and I turned in his direction and practically yelled “do you have a snowball?” … to which he replied yes! Back in the day most special occasion dinners in my family meant going to Trader Vic’s and having a “Snowball” for dessert. When Trader Vic’s reopened in Portland last year I don’t think they realized how important this dessert offering was to the local population of baby boomers. At the time Trader Vic’s was in its hay day in Portland most of us were too young to have Mai Tais and Samoan Fog Cutters but offer us a Snowball and we would sit through Aunt Betty’s bad jokes and cheek pinching to indulge in the ice cream coconut goodness sitting in chocolate that would arrive at the end of the meal.

We had a reservation for a table on a Saturday night. Although we were a few minutes early, we were seated right away. We had a great table by a window which also had a view of the wood-fired oven. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu, and was able to help me select the perfect mai tai for me. Each of us had a different menu item, and all of us raved about our food. This was our third trip here, each with the same high quality of food and beverage. We will definitely return on future trips to Portland.

We had a great meal here - the Pupu platter, the house salad, the rack of lamb, a wave of Mai tais, the lava cake, and the snowball sundae. All of the food was flavorful and fresh. The drinks were strong! the manager was present and circulating, but the service could have been better.

Generally disappointing. Service was slow and left a lot to be desired. Food was good but small portions relative to $$.
