“one of best expresso in a bamboo shop”
Reviewed October 14, 2013

Coava shares the space with a bamboo woodwork shop so the atmosphere is really cool, with tools and tables in a large environment that is really unusual for a coffee place.

Coffee is really good (only if your taste buds didn't get killed by Starbucks) and the best way to enjoy is to come with a friend and chat.

Baristas are skilled but generally not too friendly.

“Amazing space! Superb coffee!”
Reviewed September 4, 2013 via mobile

I loved the space the shop was in! Warehouse feel and beautiful wood! The baristas care about their coffee and us customers. As a specialty coffee guy, this places espresso was balanced , smooth, and bright. Loved it!

“Order the Zucchini Carrot Muffin”
Reviewed August 25, 2013

I ordered an iced coffee and Zucchini muffin which shooting a video in Portland and this was by far the best muffin I have had in a long time. It was moist and just overall delicious. The space itself is very large as if they build something else in the space. They serve your iced coffee in a small glass and take their time brewing it. Overall great coffee and muffin and cool space.

“Best coffee shop in Portland for sure”
Reviewed July 17, 2013

This place is amazing! I've been going here since it first opened and every time I go back I am again impressed by how great the coffee is, how nice the staff is, and how beautiful the space is!

It is housed in a lofty windowlicious bamboo showroom on the east side of river. And they are always on the cutting edge of coffee roasting and brewing.

If you like coffee, you must go here and forget Stumptown (although Stump is good too). Cappuccino's are the best (and you can have almond milk cappuccinos, if you desire)!

Also talk to the staff about coffee, they are super knowledgeable and friendly!

“Best of PDX. Period.”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

It is quite simple. I have been touring PDX coffee shops for some time now. This is the best one. Unpretentious and smack in the middle of all that is industrial serving the cheapest and best coffee around. Great coffee profiles and their Chemex is half the price of Stumptowns! I think price of coffee alone also beats my previously favorite Barista.
