“Good location!”
Reviewed November 24, 2013

First off, the downtown location can't be beat! It's very close to Powell's, excellent restaurants, museums and Farmer's Markets. The valet and bell staff are outstanding as are the front desk and Concierge. The check-in was somewhat cumbersome in that they wanted both of us to sign every form. Weird, but OK.

The room was a corner room overlooking the square. It was comfortable and functional although not what I'd call upscale or luxurious. The bathroom was stocked with very high quality toiletries and the bedding was quite comfortable. The closet was the oddest I've seen in a hotel. It was very deep, at least 6' and quite narrow, maybe less than 3'. The ironing board was just inside the door making the opening even more narrow. The closet door is set at a 45 degree angle.

Avoid the restaurant in the lobby for breakfast. There are better places close by.

Room Tip: Overlooking the square was nice.

Green Features: They're great! However there was only one trash can in the room.

Fantastic location, helpful, friendly staff and nice property. Located in the middle of downtown, you can walk to just about anywhere. Great restaurants within a block or two, brew-pubs nearby, Nordstrom & other shopping an easy walk. The front desk staff & valets were terrific - friendly, helpful & readily available. Our room was clean, well-appointed & the beds were very comfortable. This is an older hotel (updated) so if you're looking for something brand new with absolutely no hint of age, this isn't it. However, the lobby, hallways & rooms are all updated & in excellent condition. My ONLY complaint is the water pressure. I'm all for water conservation, but the low flow showerheads are REALLY low flow.

We stayed on the weekend so I don't know what weekday prices are but what we paid was very fair for the service & accommodations. Others mentioned the street noise (trash truck in the morning was about all we heard) but you ARE in the middle of the city so it wasn't anything unexpected or excessive.

I had asked for extra pillows & towels when making the reservation - and they were in the room when we arrived. (Which, in my experience, happens only 20% of the time.) Excellent service!

We will definitely stay at the Paramount whenever we're in Portland!

Room Tip: Higher floor if street noise bothers you.

Upon arrival found dried urine in front of toilet. Had been there long enough to collect dirt. Shower and jets in bathtub covered in pink mold. Asked if housekeeping could please clean the bathroom while we were at dinner. Housekeeping gone for the day, they agreed to send someone up to do the toilet. Next day, room serviced - shower and tub remain full of pink mold. Could not wait to leave. No location is THAT good.

I have stayed in several hotels in the downtown Portland area. This was the first time that I stayed at the Paramount. From the curbside valet parking, to check in, to the room, everything was superb. The room was very clean and comfortable. I like to look at the city lights and the staff took the extra time to place me on the top floor. The view was stunning. The elevator was fast and efficient. What I enjoyed the most about the Paramount was its convenient location to just about everything downtown. One block away from the Tri-Met rail system. Just ask the front desk for a map of Downtown Portland to area attractions. I would highly recommend the Paramount. I will be staying there from now on when visiting Portland.

Room Tip: Ask for a corner room for best city light views.

Located within spittin' distance of very useful public transportation stops, grocery, restaurants, shopping, sandwich/snack/conveinience shops, and a nice park/square across the street.

I splurge on hotels, so I went with one of the rooms on the 2nd floor that has a patio, and it has a whirlpool bathtub (as does most of their other rooms), for 5 nights = $1282

Very inexpensive compared to equivalent rooms in Chicago, New York, London, Tokyo, Paris, etc...

Only technical complaint: Shower head was very weak in water pressure, and the water tempature cut-off sensor was too low (could not get the water to get hot enough), but the whirlpool bathtub did not have those problems at all. I understand that Portland tries to be "green", but sometimes to an annoying level.

I stayed here one night while in Portland for business. The central location can't be beat. Next to great shopping and restaurants. The staff was very friendly at check in and helped with guiding me to a restaurant where I was meeting a friend for dinner. The parking valets were also very accommodating and polite. The negatives: My room had a strange odor which is a bit difficult to describe but...it was that smell of clothes having been in a drawer too long (if that makes sense.) I think they may need to clean the bedspreads or curtains in the room. Other than that, average room decor. Something you would expect at a Hilton or Marriott. But clean. I had breakfast in the restaurant and the service was INCREDIBLY slow and the restaurant wasn't that busy. Frustrating when you are trying to get to a meeting and you only ordered an omlette and it's taking close to 30 minutes. Not sure if I'd stay there again since there are plenty of other options in the heart of Portland.

Friendly staff, nicely renovated and furnished property. Walking distance to most of downtown's go-to places.

Good room amenities, free wifi, and. Starbucks across the street:).

Our SE facing corner room on the 14th floor was spacious and very comfy. Bed, pillows and sheets A+. Great Saturday morning lazing in the room.
