In November 2007 my husband and I travelled to Portland from Alaska for surgery. While staying in Portland we were moved from the Portland Inn to the Paramount Hotel. We were amazed at how lovely and accomodating the hotel staff were. They went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure my husband and myself were as comfortable as possible. The surgery turned out to be much more painful and we needed to extend our stay which was no problem. In addition, the concierge was able to secure a GREAT deal on a rental car that was DELIVERED to the Hotel, fixing our own botched attempt at getting something reserved. The accomodations were comfortable and wonderfully located next to everything in Downtown (Fantastic Northwest Food, Funky and fun shopping, and the museum). The Restaurant (Dragonfish) is also very-very good serving fusion asian cuisine (we ate there several times over the week and a half we were there. I never write reviews, but the service and accomodation made a very uncomfortable time (surgery) oddly pleasant. Thanks Paramount!!!

We dicovered a $250.00 "smoking fee" had been charged upon check out. However, I reserved a smoking room with two queen beds, A MONTH IN ADVANCE. I was given a non-smoking, king room. They did agree to provide a roll away bed at no charge. When I asked to speak to the person that assessed the fee the front desk staff said that he wasn't there and to call back on Monday when he would return. When I called back on Monday, I was sent to his voice mail which stated that he would not be back for 10 days. I again spoke to the front desk staff and explained the problem. Thay said that they could understand my position but did not have the power to do anything. I would have to wait until the manager was back from vacation in 10 days.
I have stayed at several Coast Hotels and never had an experience like this! I will never stay at another one-
especially the Portland Paramount.

I'm a frequent traveler to Portland & have found the Paramount the best value. It's a newer hotel w/ a beautifully decorated lobby. The room was plenty big, clean, & had a nice view. Not sure that the price is fair in general but if you can get an internet deal, it's a great value. It's within walking distance of some nice restaurants & bars.

Great location, close to shopping, sights, transportation. I've never stayed at a 4 star hotel with such terrible beds! They were the equivalent to Motel 6 beds....and I think that's being generous. Other than that, the stay was extremely average. The hotel staff were somewhat friendly, but didn't go out of their way to provide good service. I would love to stay again because of the location, but won't due to the back spasms incurred while staying there.
