Last year I came to Portland in August (for a conference) and stayed at the Red Lion Janzen Beach, a great hotel, a great location with great restaurants nearby. So this year I wanted my husband to experience Portland as I did last year. I booked us at the Radisson. I thought we got a great price and the rooms looked large (which they are). We arrived during a record heat wave for Portland. We didn't think we would mind that the hotel is at the top of Portland since we had a car. However, the traffic is horrible in Portland and getting from point A to B was tedious so my bad for booking us so far from downtown. I have NEVER intentionally stayed at a hotel with no pool or jacuzzi and this hotel had none, they took it out. So I wasn't able to unwind in the afternoon or evening by the pool - husband said I was surely off my game with this hotel. He hates sleep number beds and asked that I never book us into a hotel with one of those. Positives, the staff is great, the place is clean and I like that the two sinks are outside of the bathroom. So for a stop over or a night before a trip, this hotel would be superior, but for 3 nights for a vacaction, not ideal.
