I stumbled upon House Spirits while looking for unique things to do in Portland. We were staying Downtown, so we jumped on our bikes and peddled 10 minutes over a bridge. This is a small unassuming business-front, but the sandwich board sign gave it away.
They have a somewhat rustic and vintage feel to their front room. Bottles are displayed very artistically on shelves and antique cabinetry. We received a friendly greeting and allowed to peruse the shelves and books. We were offered a tasting of their spirits. It just so happened that they were bottling their White Dog (white whiskey) that same day. He made an extra effort to get a bottle brought to the store so that we could try it too. After a quick ID check things got underway! I learned a lot about what I was tasting. He was very knowledgeable and explained things very well, answering any questions which came up. The tasting fee was waved because of purchase.
