Tucked into the Albina Arts District, this French-inspired restaurant is an unassuming neighborhood gem. Full of windows, you feel like you're entering a Parisian bistro and can see the team of chefs cooking away.

There is a full bar and a good selection of wines from around the world. We began with the pickle plate and chicken liver mousse. The pickled items are all made in-house and are full of flavor without being too intense or vinegary. The presentation of each dish was lovely and appetizing. Artful without being too delicate to dig into. I had the king salmon with French lentil and English pea salad... it was AMAZING! My foodie companions had equally wonderful dishes of cod and sturgeon respectively. We shared the chocolate mousse dessert - a delicious concoction that is incredibly dense. I'm not sure any one person could eat it alone.

Cocotte is perfect for a dinner with friends, parents, or a date.

Happy hour is a great time to taste the wide variety of house-made items. The pickle(d) plate included fennel, carrots, radishes, pickles, and squash. All were excellent. The crust on the mushroom tart was exceptional. The chicken liver pate was butter smooth, garnished with dried cherries, mustard and pickled onion. Delish! Entre selection is limited, but each item showcases seasonal ingredients. Service was attentive and just friendly enough. A real delight.

We went with 3 other couples. Our table was ready when we arrived, which was nice. We shared three appetizers, which all were generous in size and excellent - particularly liked the varied preparation of the escargot. We also thought the pate was excellent. The restaurant has an extensive wine list as well as specialty drinks. All of us enjoyed our entrees, except for one - the day's fish special, which unfortunately came out very undercooked and was quite disappointing. Our server apologized and the item was taken off our check. The house special - cocotte was enjoyed by two at the table and the pork loin was also delicious. Overall a pleasant experience. Would definitely return.

Cocotte is a great little French restaurant in a fun area of Portland! We were very impressed with the diversity of the menu. I ordered a delicious vegetable clafoutis and my husband had the sturgeon on lentil soup, but we were both tempted by many of the items on the menu.

We also appreciated the stylish decor (okay, I appreciated the decor and my husband probably didn't notice) and the friendly waitress. There is also sidewalk seating which would be great on a nice day.
