“Local Food, Great Flavors”

We went to this restaurant with local friends who had been to its sister restaurant and enjoyed it. The food was great, all locally-sourced and very tasty. Family style so we got to experience many of the tastes from the menu --- all very good!

We dined here because Trip Advisor has become our "go to" guide for dining options when we travel. We were not disappointed by our visit. We lucked out and didn't have to wait, granted it was Friday when we went.

I have to say there was a certain vibe in the atmosphere that made you instantly relax and want to stay for more time then you intended. I didn't want to leave, we had a great time people watching, ordering more food and having a second cup of coffee. Perhaps we are partly responsible for the long wait at times? Maybe... sorry about that....

The food selections were unique and presented with a different twist. The service was relaxed and friendly, the coffee was hot and fresh.

Here are the items we thoroughly enjoyed:
We started with Mimosa's (who doesn't, on a Friday...)
Had a few bacon wrapped dates (nice flavor) and they use REAL maple syrup)
The roasted apple was delicious - I could of had like 50 of those....
The tasty muffin - was like an egg mc muffin on crack - you have to try it
The sautéed spinach - I love fresh spinach - thank god it wasn't frozen
Grilled Yams - wow - that had to be the underdog.... awesome spices on the top and again with the real maple syrup glaze... yum yum
House chorizo omelette - honey had this one, he said it was the best he's ever had. He said that the red pepper sauce they used inside of it made the difference.

We tried to go again on Sunday but the line was too long and we had to get on the road for our 8 hour drive home... perhaps next time when we're in town. We did however visit the coffee shop 2 doors down... THAT place had one damn fine latte. They even made their own vanilla syrup with a REAL vanilla bean inside.... I love Portland, can't wait to go back.

“Wow - Stuff I would have never ordered...AMAZING”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 6, 2013

This place is a great breakfast place...but be prepared to wait! The line was wild, the wait about 45 minutes, but totally worth it. Nice touch is that you can grab a cup of coffee (self-serve) up by the greeter. Nice touch.

Food was AMAZING. We asked for recommendations from our waiter because the menu was kinda unusual and we didn't want to get stuck in a breakfast sandwich rut. He recommended we order 3 plates because they were small....but he actually made recommendations from the "large plate" section, so they were NOT small! These plates are good size and is plenty for 1 person.

That being said - we ordered the Moroccan Chicken Hash as our first plate on his recommendation. It was nothing we ever would have picked ourselves and it was AMAZING. The flavors were fantastic. I would visit Portland again just for this plate of food.

The other plates we ordered were the Potatoes Bravas and the Fried Egg n Cheddar Biscuit with sausage. They both were also VERY GOOD, but not quite as delicious as the Moroccan Chicken.

It would have been nice if the waiter would have told us that this was probably too much food for 2 people after we ordered, but maybe he thought we looked really hungry? We sat at the bar, which was cool because you got to watch all the chefs working on your food or the other chefs prepping sauces and biscuits and stuff.

Very cool place. Great vibe and WONDERFUL food. Worth the wait.

“Run of the mill”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 5, 2013 via mobile

After hearing the hype, my girlfriend and I stopped in for brunch. It was busy so we had a bit if a wait. We were able to grab some coffee while we waited which was nice.

The menu was limited (not one healthy option). We both ordered eventually because the server was not very attentive.

When the food arrived, it lacked visual appeal and tasted liked it looked.

I don't plan on visiting again. Maybe it isn't my cup of tea.

“Unique Dining Experience”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 4, 2013

We ate breakfast here, and the food was very good. My son loved the hash. I had Aunt Paula's French toast with pear and maple topping. The toast was very light, and the topping was delicious. The seating is limited, and we sat at a large table with several other groups. If you want privacy when you eat, this isn't the place. It was fun for us as we were able to converse with our table mates and share our thoughts on the various food choices.
