A wonderful birthday celebration for my girlfriend was had last evening at Bar Avignon. It began with luscious Lemon Drops with a taste of mint - M-m-m! We went on to share several plates, and each of them were very fresh and uniquely delicious. The three of us all said that we were eager to come back!

We recently experienced dinner, or was it food heaven, at "Bar Avignon", when we were visiting Portland from the Bay Area in August. We are pretty much total foodies, having lived in France for many years, so if I say this place is FANTASTIC, I mean it. We particularly loved the creme fraiche lemon sauces in a few of the dishes, AMAZING. We ate at several other delicious restaurants afterwards but Avignon wins our #1 choice in all of Oregon. The cocktails and local wines were delicious too. An overall tantalizing experience and can't wait to get back up there again.

This isn't fussy small-portioned French cuisine. The food is excellent. The service is good. They use high quality local ingredients, mostly organic. The environment is small and modern but cosy. You can also sit outside (but the street noise can be a bit much).

Came here during Portland Dining Month with my wife. It was outstanding! Started with bread and Rogue Creamery butter, along with happy hour margaritas. Followed that with a salad of mixed greens. My wife then had the pork chop, quickly declaring it the best she's ever tasted. I has the chicken and it was delicious - and the portion was huge. For dessert, we had warm double chocolate chip cookies and milk.

Bar Avignon is now a new addition to my Portland Top Five. It was that great.
