This is a foodie lover's dream restaurant in great neighborhood for people watching. The food has a French bistro style with offerings like escargot, salade lyonnaise- both wonderful. Husband got squab with little feet still attached and served with sautéed chicken hearts and homemade sausage. I got salmon with was sadly a tail-end cut and a little dry but otherwise a nice plate. We wanted the pork rinds with maple dipping sauce but they never came. My husband ordered soup which was served at the same time our two appetizers came out. No apologies were made and we felt rushed and cramped with no room at the table to maneuver. We were charged for the pork rinds we never got and had to ask twice to take them off the bill.

On my friend's birthday pub crawl, we stopped at a place her 23 year old daughter suggested as a hip NW spot - St. Jack. French food, cool bistro vibe, conveniently located to our previous spot at Casa Del Matador. We were in!

We were there for drinks and probably a snack. We scored a bar table in the window at the front southwest corner. This was a light and bright location. We quickly received drink/snack menu boards. We quickly ordered 6 New Zealand oyster shooters. We also ordered Park Lane Sours and some Rose.

A bottle of water with glasses showed up with our drinks and oyster shooters. We downed our shooters and enjoyed our drinks. We felt very young and hip sitting in this cool environment.

Definitely a recommended spot for a Friday Happy Hour walk through NW!

St Jack is a restaurant in the style of a bouchon - a style of French cafe popular in Lyon, France. They are typically a more casual and even rustic style of dining than most Americans imagine French food to be. There are also some nicer styles of bouchon, and St Jack has this one nailed. The Salad Lyonaise was spot-on exactly the taste we came to love in Lyon. I had steak frites as a main and it was nicely done. My one knock on them for this visit is even though I made reservations online, they seemed to have lost them. We got a table anyway, but it was a bit hairy there for a bit. I'll definitely want to come back. Pity they don't have a Sunday brunch!

The food is hands-down excellent - great menu, local ingredients and a deft hand in the kitchen (the onglet, hanger steak, was a happy reminder of Belgium).

It's worth going for the food, but the noise levels at the peak of a Saturday evening service had a decibel level of a 747 on take-off. It was a cool evening so the windows were closed, perhaps if they'd been open, the noise would have been dissipated. By the end of the evening, it was not a problem - so definitely enjoy great food, but eat early or late!

Impressively extensive (somewhat pricey) French wine list, with just a smattering of (disappointing and expensive) Oregon selections.

I had tomato bisque, steak tartar and a frisée salad. One thing was better then the rest. Service was perfect. At tentative and not fussy. I will definitely be back and recommend you go too!
