St Jack is a busy, noisy bistro with good food and a great wait staff. My steak frites were good solid simple food. The octopus appetizer was salty, and the butter lettuce salad was very good. My wife thought all of her food was over salted. The madelines and cherry ice cream were wonderful. I would come back. She might not.

Among the best French cuisine I have sampled. Excellent and varied menu with weekly specials.

Butter Lettuce salad is outstanding, as if the Onglet Steak Frites.

Madeleines were fresh from the oven and exquisite.

The new location is very loud. The music is too loud and all the hard surfaces makes the noise level worse. At a table of 4 it was very hard to have a conversation. The food is lovely, beautifully served. The service is excellent, attentive and knowledgeable.

One of my favorite hidden gems for breakfast. Their pastries are beautiful and delicious. Several coffee and tea options, and some healthier options as well, such as the yogurt with granola and apples. I stood mesmerized watching the guy behind the counter slice the green apple into perfectly thin slivers, and then artfully arrange them in a glass. Presentation counts for a lot here. Simple, but perfect. One of my favorite things about this place is the huge, over-dripped wax candles. I have yet to eat here at night, but during the day, lovely.

From my call to make a reservation to their gentle push out the door at closing, these guys were absolutely flawless. The ambiance is romantic, soft light, informal. It had the feel of a French country cafe. The menu is fairly short, but there is decent variety. Our waiter did a great job describing aperitifs, entrees and wine pairings. He made absolutely stellar suggestions based on our preferences. The only drawback is, it is an older, oddly shaped room, with a lot of seating along the bar. The tables are a little crowded and there are only a few window seats.

I started with The Conquest. Perfect - not too sweet. She had the Cherry Ginger and liked it. The escargots were tender. The pommes frites were crunchy. My sauvignon blanc was elegant and palate cleansing. I got the oxtail Bourguignon. It was succulent; the sauce was rich. I got a glass of Counoise with it and that worked just fine. She got the lamb shoulder and that was perfectly cooked too. The waiter recommended the Mourvedre with that, which went well, although it was a lighter and a little less interesting than the other red.

I thought this was a very good value for the money.
