This garden is in the middle of a city with tall walls all the way around it. It takes up a city block. The angles and shapes of the walls inside make great photo opportunities. The place is not too big and not too small. Finding and paying for parking can be a real pain at times.

Beautiful smells hit you the minute you approach the entrance! We were lucky enough to walk in just as a tour guide was starting a short half hour tour (usually they are an hour long). Take the tour! The guides are wonderful and really help you understand the garden and it's purpose. Yes it is in the middle of a big city, but once inside you don't even realize there is a city around you. The plants were chosen so that there is something in bloom during every part of the year. The beautiful smell of flowers was amazing! The tea house is also a must visit. We sat and had a cup of tea and a moon cake, watched the other visitors and relaxed. When we left the tea house it felt like we had just walked out of a massage! Totally relaxed and rejuvenated! Who knew all that could come from a cup of tea and a beautiful environment! Visit this garden! It was amazing!

Very cute compact Chinese garden in the heart of Old Town/Chinatown. Nice little oasis. Come when they are having one of their festivals.

The gardens are beautiful, the hours are adequate, the price reasonable, and the location easily accessible. It's not an enormous site, so plan on being able to cover it fairly well in an hour or less (more if you take the guided tour or visit the on-site tea house).

We have missed this spot on our last few visits so wanted to be sure to make it this time. A very relaxing location in the middle of town. The winter is probably not the best time to visit if you want to see the trees in bloom but we enjoyed our visit. If you go, take time for tea service offered.
