“Beautiful, even in the winter!”
Reviewed February 19, 2013

I went here in the wintertime on a beautiful chilly day. It was so peaceful and serene. I loved walking around and then having tea in the beautiful tea house! I would definitely suggest this to people visiting Portland or even locals! I would love to come here all the time.

“Serenity right in the heart of downtown Portland”
Reviewed February 16, 2013

Beautiful, serene, a lovely gem in the heart of downtown Portland. The gift shop outside where you purchase tickets has some really neat items. I picked up some postcards depicting animals from the Chinese zodiac. Whoever gets to receive them will surely enjoy reading about their astrological profiles.

Walking into the garden is a calming, cleansing experience. Provided it's not too crowded, you'll really feel at peace here. It's an adventure in time travel, too - as you temporarily venture into a realm of old world Chinese architecture.

The docents are pleasant, helpful and dare I say ~Portland Hip~? On my way out, I was wondering if Powell's Books was within walking distance - and this lovely Chinese volunteer showed me a map from their arsenal of Portland travel guides (yay for being tourist-friendly!). Although we had trouble finding out where's north and south, east and west, she helped a whole lot. That, and thank God for technology and Google Maps.

“Beautiful Asian Garden”
Reviewed February 13, 2013

I have visited this garden three times, each a different season, and it is always magical and wonderful. This tiny little gem is in the middle of Portland, but you get the feeling of tranquility and peace. There are so many benches to rest on and just to enjoy the beauty of the plants and flowers...it's a wonderful spot to just rest and think. I highly reccomend visiting the tea house, as well, while you're here.

Because it is a beautiful garden and so peaceful I could see coming here several times a year just to see what else is blooming.
