I LOVE this place! It's my own kittle corner of tranquility. Don't forget the tea house! They have excellent noodles! :-)

“A Refuge in Downtown Portland”
Reviewed May 11, 2012

Located at 3rd and Everitt at the north end of Chinatown, this block square garden is a jewel. Five-hundred tons of rock were imported for its construction in 2,000 by a crew of Chinese craftsmen who lived in Portland while building the hardscape and planting a collection typical of authentic gardens in Portland's Chinese Sister City. A tea house offers tea and light food while looking out over the koi pond.

Oh the beauty of this garden. Take the tour and you will learn so much of how htis was created by citizens of Portland their sister city in China. So much culture ahas been transferred. Lovely at any time of the year and in any weather. I will return each time I am in Portland!

“Am I Really In The City?”
Reviewed May 9, 2012

After a few days of debating, I decided this was the highlight of our Portland trip. The gardens take up a whole block of Chinatown. You really don't know you are in Portland when visiting here. Unless you look up to neighboring buildings or hear an occasional bus go by, you would never know. After paying the entrance fee (AAA discounts available), we were able to get in on a well informed guided tour. Plants in bloom, fish in the ponds, art room, and nice architecture highlight the grounds. There is also a tearoom and gift shop available. You can also walk the grounds at your leisure. I don't go to a lot of gardens, but of the ones I have been to, I would have to say this one is the best. Yet again, another must see in Portland.
