we wanted to try this restaurant, as it was associated with seattle's lola. we began with an amstel light, and a expat cocktail. both were very good. next we shared the mesclun salad, mussels, and spinach gnudi. all were excellent...the server was nice and efficient.

Despite being very busy, we had great service and an excellent business lunch. The fish special (rockfish) was very well prepared but it was a little skimpy on the portlon size.

In a foodie city like Portland it often seems chefs try to one-up each other with creative twists that leave diners behind. Happily, Nel Centro does not appear to have fallen into this trap. Our party had fresh, inventive modern Italian food that was straightforward and totally delicious. One diner had steak & frite, and here the fries were unadorned, but carefully crisped, just like they should be, but almost never are. Nice, roomy dining spaces and good variety of wines by the glass at reasonable prices. A great place to go when you're tired of gimmicks.

Six of us ate at Nel Centro before seeing a show at PCPA. The restaurant is conveniently located near the theater. We had a lovely table by the window and the service was fine. My husband and each had sales to start and we shared two entrees--an unmemorable fish specials and homemade pasta with wild boar ragu. Short on flavor, exceptionally high in price, and my husband suffered indigestion all night. Won't be returning.

My party of people shared the pulled pork sandwich, the pomme frites, calamari and pizza on special. It was outstanding and the wait staff was incredible. I can't wait to go back!
