“Touching and beautiful memorial”
Reviewed July 16, 2014

The Oregon Holocaust Memorial is located in Washington Park a short walk from the Rose Garden and Japanese Garden. We were walking back toward town and stopped at the Memorial. It is hidden in the trees.

The Memorial includes artifacts on the bench and walkway to the memorial including a menorah, teddy bear and doll. The actual memorial does a great job of sharing the history of the holocaust and has moving quotes on the front. On the back of the memorial are the names of the individuals who contributed to the memorial and the names of the loved ones they lost.

Very touching and moving experience. I highly recommend visiting when you are in Oregon.

“Oregon Holocaust Memorial--A Moving Tribute to Victims of the Holocaust”
Reviewed June 23, 2014

This Holocaust Memorial is a deeply moving experience. Located in Washington Park, the visual display, sculptures of items left behind and the tribute to families that were lost--parents, grandparents, children, aunts, uncles, siblings, cousins--provides visitors with a statement against bigotry, hate and racial prejudice. If you want a more detailed tour, you may contact the Oregon Holocaust Resource Center at 503-245-2733 to arrange for a docent.

“Very moving”
Reviewed June 4, 2014

I stumbled across this memorial on a hike with friends not expecting anything. Though it's small, it stirs up a lot of emotion. I have been to the memorial site at Dachau, and the memorial here in Portland brings up some of the same feelings. What really got me were the bronze statues of children's toys on the ground.

“Moving and Powerful Display”
Reviewed May 31, 2014

This memorial is worthy of a visit. The sculptures symbolize things that were left behind by those trying to escape quickly. It is well done and a tasteful way to remember something as significant as the Holocaust.
