Description: East India Co Grill & Bar offers a delectable journey and redefines the perception of Indian food. The romantic interior combines seductive Indian richness and sparkle, with dramatic lighting, and 1800's sepia photographs. Subtle complex marinades using time honored Indian grilling methods created by seasoned master chefs reflect the food trends in today's India. The menu remains true to classic Indian recipes but is served with verve and style. All of this along with our hospitality and innovative signature cocktails makes for a unique dining experience. The restaurant is conveniently located in the heart of downtown Portland on 11th avenue between Yamhill and Taylor. We are open for lunch, happy hour, and dinner everyday. We invite you to join us for the East India experience.

I usually visit Portland every summer and always enjoy the great dining opportunities (aside from the food carts, which are wonderful and cheap!). Sometimes I'm in the mood for a more formal eating experience. This is now my third visit to East India Co. while in the city, and I would say it has become one of my favorite Portland restaurants. I have always found the wait staff to be cordial and very attentive; all the dishes I have ordered have been well-prepared, nicely presented, and delicious. The restaurant decor is very unique and elegant. Meal prices are very reasonable. This is certainly a place you should try if you enjoy Indian cuisine! Conveniently located near the South Park blocks.

This was our first visit to this restaurant and our child's first experience with true Indian food, and she is very picky.
Wow! She had the chicken murg, rice, garlic naan and a salad. She left giving compliments to everyone & said she "loved it" so much that is was in her top 2 favorite foods... In the world!

I LOVED the tikka masala & the naan. The portion was ample and the sauce will keep me craving this spectacular dish!

My husband had a chick pea dish that was flavorful, with the right amount of spice. Our friend had the salmon & enjoy the simplicity and subtle garlic flavor.

We also had the chicken wings which were spicy, flavorful and a great signal to what we could expect once our entrees arrived.

The staff was beyond kind- explaining everything in detail to my daughter, who is not adventurous.
We left completely thrilled that we had found a fantastic restaurant that is deeply satisfying for our entire family.

A local resident we met on a recent trip to Portland highly recommended this restaurant to us. We stopped in for lunch and were enchanted. The food was wonderful, as was the service, ambiance and price. We shared the food we ordered, and started off with a fantastic lentil soup that was light and tangy and perfectly spiced. We then had small plates of the tandoori mushroom and the salmon kebab. The mushrooms were also perfectly spiced and absolutely delicious; we haven't had mushrooms prepared this way before and are big fans now. The salmon was delicate and just melted in our mouths when eaten. Our final dish was the chicken vindaloo, which lived up to its reputation as spicy (we were warned). This was also wonderful: the chicken was perfectly cooked, the spice palate was fabulous, and the spice was tamed by the raita, which had it's own special kick. Overall, a great unanticipated experience. We're going back before we leave!

We had visited East India Co in 2011 and had a pleasant experience (that was a weekday afternoon) This time we went back on a weekend night with friends and the experience was the opposite. Staff was not prompt and at times seemed disinterested almost bothered by people being there. Food was strictly ok for the price.
Ambience is still probably the best for Inidan places in pdx area.

Went it and experienced the worst ever experience of food service this year. Oh God, the lady (think she is the owner) is so rude and knows nothing about serving. She just stand in one corner and asked for drink like she is upset with the customers. One of us decided to change the order right after we order (less than a minute delay while she was still there), she gave a horrible look. She is a curse to restaurant and must be specialized in "how to avoid customers" to be very frank, writing anymore to this lady and about this restaurant is waste of time.

Owner, If you are reading this :- Get rid of this Indian lady ASAP. She is the main reason you not having repeating customers. She is a disgrace and a shame to this restaurant.
And to the lady: if you are the owner, get out of serving business, you are the sole reason for all negative reviews about this restaurant.
