Erin, the owner is first and foremost a really good baker. I like a good bran muffin, one with flavor, not too sweet, with fruit and nuts and a good crust all around. Erin doesn't use baking cups so that her muffins have that nice crispness all around. They're good sized too.
But I've never not loved any baked item I ate there. She makes specialty cakes in unusual but perfect flavor combinations and a texture as good as any top end bakery, and Portland has many of those.
The coffee is always good too, and strong. No watery see-through stuff or single-shot espresso drinks. You can get all the new age items like rice milk and more as well as half-and-half and all the usuals. Also, good teas made strong and hot and not using "coffee water" as my wife calls it.
Oh, and Dragonfly is a homey and warm place with sofas, overstuffed chairs, window seats, coffee tables, and bistro tables. There's always some interesting and good art on the walls. In the summer the windows are open and you can sit outside year round if you wish. This is a one-of-a-kind Portland type place. Give it a try.
