After a long day of travel I arrived at the Residence Inn, only to be told that they would not accommodate a paid reservation that had already been checked-in online and with a confirmed upgrade for an elite member. Instead I was told they would be charging me full rate to stay at the Holiday Inn. This is a fraudulent property that does not honor reservations, and there's no point in having loyalty to Marriott because it means nothing to the chain. Avoid this property at all costs -- you won't be able to stay there anyway.More

Tucked Away and Excellent Place to Stay
With the train stop right outside the front door of this hotel, The Residence Inn is an excellent place to stay while landing in Portland. Easy to commute anywhere in the area and also enjoy a clean and well run hotel.
I stayed in a suite and enjoyed the complementary breakfast bar. Nicely furnished with private alcoves to watch tv privately (rather than a big screen blasting over the entire room) or to engage in conversation with a friend. Delicious selection of morning menu offerings and an exceptionally comfy bed.

A place to rest
We enjoyed our overnight stay prior to the long flight from Portland to Baltimore. The staff was superb in every aspect of our stay. Mobile check in eased the long wait and time to get into our room - less than 5 minutes. The front desk staff was knowledgeable of the area and provided great tips to enjoy the evening. We got a shuttle to and from our restaurant that the staff recommended - Parkstone was delightful. David our shuttle driver was courtesy, friendly, and great conversationalist. He was prompt to drive and pick up us - thanks David enjoy the cycling. We intend to stay here on our next visit to Portland.

Convenient to PDX and MAX rail line, room to spread out
We stayed at this property while exploring Portland and the beaches due to the positive reviews on TripAdvisor.

Our two-bedroom unit was spacious and clean for our family of four and offered the same amenities we have encountered in the updated Residence Inn branch of Marriott. Plenty of free parking and easy access to PDX airport and downtown Portland via the MAX train stop located in the hotel parking lot. The complimentary breakfast was well-stocked and offered a variety of something for everyone.

The only drawback we experienced was that there appeared to be less soundproofing than other hotels we have stayed in the Marriott portfolio of hotels. In the hallway and our room, we could constantly hear loud footfalls from the floor above. Unfortunately, my Bonvoy profile and room request of a top floor room was not able to be accommodated on this trip so perhaps we were more affected by noise than our typical stay on a higher floor.

Very convenient to the airport, but still fairly quiet
Four of us stayed here since we had an international flight from PDX the next day. We booked a 2 bedroom suite and it was nice to have two bathrooms for getting ready in the morning.

The hotel is very clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. WiFi and the breakfast buffet was complimentary, as well as the shuttle to the airport. There was an evening reception that night and we chatted with a very charming young man named Jordan. He had actually prepared the food for the reception and was serving the complimentary beer/wine.

Overall we were happy with our stay.

Enjoyable Stay
My husband and I stayed 3 nights in a studio suite with a king bed (upper floor). The room was clean and very comfortable. The hotel location is great and the grounds and decor is very nice. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.
