“convenient location, nice hotel”
Reviewed October 6, 2012

This hotel is good if you need to be near the airport, but still easy to get to downtown by rail. Friendly, helpful staff and prompt airport pickup worked well for us. The hotel seemed fresh and comfortable. Breakfast was typical. I would definitely stay here again if in the area.

Chose this location because we wanted to be close to airport to catch a early am flight back home. What a great location, seconds from major restaurants, super close to interstate, expressway, minutes from airport. Really nice staff. Rooms super modern, loved full size kitchen with icemaker. Door between bedroom and living area was really nice too if you have someone that wants to go to bed early and not be disturbed by tv in living area. Very large bathrooms. Lots of parking. This is as I said a great location to jump on interstate.

This is our second trip to Portland for short getaway (4 days with my hubby) and it was very nice. The hotel is very clean and the room is quite pleasant and modern. We were upgraded to a corner room with a fireplace although it was quite a walk to the elevator. We used the stairs which were right near out door and they were very clean and well lit. The building is more like a small hotel rather than typical RI because it is 4 floors in one bldg. I'd suggest a room on the 4th fl. so you don't hear people walking overhead. We were on the third fl. since there was not a room on the 4th fl. with a fireplace available when we checked in. Tip: if you want to view CNN on the tv, it's not easy to find cause it's not listed on the directory, however, we discovered on our own that it is actually on channel A44 which is far up on the channels. This was news even to the front desk. There was an HBO channel and other local channels too. Flatscreen tvs were nice in both rooms and the appliances were mostly stainless steel and nice. Aside from the room being nice and clean, and the hallways too, the location was the best part. The lightrail train is located right outside the hotel's front door and very easy to use and $5 for a day pass. Each of our tickets were stamped $10 though, but we did purchase two so I hope the price hasn't gone up. humm. Although the hotel is near the airport and a little ways from downtown (approx. 20-25 min or so), if you are like us and enjoy using the public transportation, this works out great. You can transfer from train to bus using your ticket for no extra charge and you can get to several locations by just transferring from red, yellow, blue lines which are easy. You can get to the zoo, Washington Park, downtown, etc. We enjoyed our visit to the Rose Garden which you get to from the Washington Park stop and then catch the #63 bus which only comes every hour. The RG is free and filled with lovely roses to see and smell and the area is quite serene to sit and just take in the view. I suppose if you visit the RG during the spring, it will be in best bloom, though. There are some stores and restaurants in walking distance from the hotel. We ate at Famous Dave's barbeque and it was good and service was really good too. We also ate at BW3's last time and it was also good and good service.
The shuttle was prompt which was much appreciated but you do have to call for a ride from the airport. Also, when you see the shuttle coming, don't expect it to pull up to the curb or you just might get left. Flag it down and make your way to the van (it was a white van) even if it's out in one of the street lanes.
One bad note, I did get sick after eating breakfast at the hotel (the complimentary breakfast offered daily). I think it was the Silk milk that wasn't kept cold. I mentioned it to the manager and he was nice about it and said he would check it out. Unfortunately, the next morning the milk was still not kept cold so I was a bit disappointed that my point obviously wasn't taken seriously. Now, I am very careful about what I eat from food bars and especially the items that should be kept cold and not just on a few pieces of ice.
The gym was small with only a few pieces of equipment but it got the job done. Clean. Just free weights and no weight machines though. Modern equipment of treadmills and ellipital machines - about 2-3 each in the gym. The pool area was small but nice and clean looking although we didn't get to use it.
Overall, we enjoyed our visit to Portland and enjoyed our stay at RI! It's our hotel of choice since there is no full service Marriott except downtown and the price is much higher there.
FYI - I only rated this hotel average because it of course can't compare to a full service Marriott which I usually rate very good. Otherwise, this hotel would have been rated very good as well.

Room Tip: room #335 was good for seeing the front where you can see planes flying overhead.

This was our second time staying here, and we had great experiences both times. We are two adults and our teenaged son, so the one-bedroom suite works well for us. There is a door between the bedroom and living area/kitchen, which is where our son slept on the pull-out couch. This makes it convenient for different sleeping schedules. The dressing area/closet/sink is next to but separate from the bathroom. The kitchen is a nice feature for a longer stay (we stayed ten days). It has a full-sized fridge, microwave, stovetop, cabinets, and was fully stocked with silverware and dishes for 4. There are two large flat screen TV's, one in the bedroom and one in the living room. Internet connection worked great. The pool and spa and exercise room are all wonderful and open late, and the breakfast bar is the best I've seen in a hotel. Everything is sparkling clean, and as this is a newer hotel (3 years old?) everything works!

Room Tip: We accidentally booked a studio room rather than a one-bedroom; it was lovely and clean but there is...

First I stayed at this hotel because it is only a few steps from the MAX red line train that runs right out of the airport terminal. Then I returned because the staff were so helpful, and the nearby shops have everything you will ever need on a trip. Now it has become my preferred hotel when visiting Portland, better than staying downtown even when my business is there because the train makes it so painless to commute and the value is unbeatable.

On occasion I have an early flight and live an hour and a half from the airport. Instead of getting up at 3:00 am I book a room here. The rooms are spacious and very clean. You can print your airline tickets from the business office the night before and take there free shuttle to the airport. The bed are comfortable and the location is great. Lots of place to shop and eat nearby. I've stayed at other hotels by the airport but this is by far my favorite. A little more expensive than others but worth the extra $40.00. I will stay here again.

Stayed for one night when flying through PDX. Close to airport and shuttle is very convenient. The hotel room had a cute bedroom. Unlike some other Residence Inns, this room had a separate bathroom. (Not the sink area in the bedroom). It also had a fireplace and a full stove. Too bad we weren't staying longer.

We only met the shuttle drive (same taking us from and then to the airport. And the nice gentleman checking us in. Both were quite nice and professional.

Room Tip: We got a room by the railroad tracks. But never heard the train. So I think any room would be fine.
